DC Comics subsidiary Wildstorm is about to add another notch to its "video game-to-comic book adaptation" belt, if such a thing weren't too preposterous to exist. The etching can be attributed to its upcoming illustrated stab at Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 in a six-part comic mini-arc, which will be aptly titled Modern Warfare 2: Ghost.
David Lapham, writer and illustrator of the fantastic Stray Bullets series, will reprise these roles for the Ghost-ly comics. Robert Bowling revealed the first piece of Lapham's art on his Twitter yesterday (posted above), but has yet to announce a street date for the comic. Our prediction? Around the same time as the game. Our other prediction? All other comics that were supposed to come out in November will be delayed until Q1 2010.
Update: Bowling just sent over a friendly message expounding upon a few Modern Warfare 2: Ghost details. The cover art was actually done by Federico Dallocchio, who worked on WildStorm's Gears of War and StarCraft comic adaptations. The rest of the art is being handled by former Guardians of the Galaxy artist Kevin West. Lapham has been tasked with writing the actual story of the mini-series. Thanks for the details, Robert!

Quit being a shower of dicks. Maybe the guy is just psyched. You guys have too much time on your hands if you have to complain like this. Aren't you hijacking the "spot-light" by trolling the guy?

Pretty cool.
Although I hope we get a serious break from COD after this game. It's too much and after a while, it will become boring.
I mean, at lest introduce something new in the next game. Korean War or Vietnam anyone? How about a COD game that takes place in the future? That would be seriously nice.

korean war would basically be CoD 5, just colder and with one or two new guns. A vietname one would be great though that's what I'm hoping for

Yeah, we're in dire need of a fresh story, new gameplay elements and a different setting. You see, I have two uncles that went into the Korean War. One, unfortunately, got shot, and the other got his legs blown off by a grenade. Sorry, if I'm getting a little too personal about myself, but I would love to get an experience that was similar to what they went through.
But anyway, I think Infinity Ward or Treyarch could come up with some really cool stuff with a futuristic or Vietnam setting. New gameplay, new story, new experience. That's all I want.

I understood it the same way Batman, you know you can just shoot yourself and tape a grenade to your leg.

Sorry for the confusion. All I meant was that I wanted to KNOW and SEE what they went through in a realistic experience. Sorry if I worded it wrong.

I wish someone would make a realy good sniper game. One inspired heavily by MGS3. With the camo aspect and hours of stalking in the mountains, boss battles like The End. It might sound boring but I love that shit.
Who am I kidding, I need to just go play MGS3.

@ Robin
No, not for real, haha.
Now back on topic, I too would love a good sniper game. Maybe a whole DLC for Modern Warfare 2 that gives maybe 2 new sniper missions.
I just want to be blown away, and I really hope MW2 can do that for me.

It'll probably suck, Mirror's Edge, Halo Uprising, Prototype, and Gears of War have all been real shitty comics

There are so many of these game-to-comic adaptations happening right now, and I like it.
I'm just getting back into comics, and it's great when I'm already familiar with the topic universe.

But the comic isn't tied to the MP so it's worthless right?
That's how just about everyone I know see's it.
I hate hate that so much.

David Lapham is a big deal! Infinity Ward could have pulled out some budget douche writer/artist, but they spent a little more and are getting the finest in quality here. David Lapham is a killer storyteller & artist. Can't wait to pick these up. If you like Lapham be sure to pick up Stray Bullets and Murder Me Dead. Two of the best comics I've ever read.

If that guy's rifle in the pic has jungle-styled magazines in it, one of them should be upside down... but they're both facing the same direction...
