Looks like the reports and retailer listings were accurate: LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition exists and it's coming to stores on September 8 for the same ol' $59.99 you can currently find the non-GOTY variant at. So what does your ... well, just your waiting get you above and beyond the existing release? Media Molecule has hand-picked 18 "extraordinary" level creators to each build a level "specifically for the GOTY edition." Not enough? Perhaps seven "packs" from the PlayStation Store – including the Metal Gear Solid Level Pack and Costumes Pack – would be enough to entice you? Says here that's "nearly a $30 value."
Still not biting, eh? Lastly, a "limited supply" of LBP: GOTY discs will include a voucher granting you access to the ModNation Racers online beta, the next game in Sony's "Play, Create, Share" series. If you're still not convinced, we don't think the trailer after the break is going to change your mind, but we still think you should watch it. Sackboy ... he's just so cute.

If I have an unopened LBP regular edition, should I hock it on ebay and buy this one? What do you guys who've played LBP a lot think? Is it worth the trouble?

I want this. Is LBP a good game worth getting? I don't know what to do i wanna buy Uncharted before Uncharted 2 for $30 since the price drop and i need to Buy Simpsons Season 12 but LBP GOTY edition sounds awesome! I hope they add more trophies. I have never owned LBP.

No, it's actually pretty bad. The creation aspect is the only good part, the actual platforming is horrid. Uncharted is very rad, however.

It is one of if not the best platformer game of this decade. Some people don't like platformers so they don't like it but this game has been hugely successful and there is a reason behind that.
Owning a PS3 and not having LBP is like owning a NES and not having Super Mario Bros 3.

I guess it's not for everybody but I have to a agree with that nintendo comment. this is THE game to get on the PS3!
there is a chance you might not like it but there is also a chance that you may think it's the best game ever created...and that's not something you can say about a lot of games.

So all they have to do is run that commercial 24/7 in tandem with a $300 PS3...

Not trying to troll here...
But shouldn't GOTY or Greatest Hits editions be cheaper then they were when intially released...?

For all the people dissing LBP, you can make your own levels, so if you thought it sucked, it's really your own fault.

That's silly the price is stupid $59.99?.for LBP should be cheaper there over charging us.. Come on Sony! $29.99 or $49.00 bucks not $60.00 con artists!...Where is the help patch!?... Lame!,...

Why don't they say thanks to all of us who already have LBP by giving us some free costume pack's and Metal Gear add-on's? - I guess that would defy the point of the GOTY edition, but still......

now i already have the game, isn't it just cheaper for me to buy all this extra content? and i mean it seems like the new levels they offer are already available online??? i mean there not MM right? they are just great user created levels

I want this. Partly because I've always wanted to play LBP and partly because I want to play ModNation Racers ASAP!

Shit, I could come up with three titles better than LBP without thinking (ahem, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, and Saints Row 2).

LBP is a completely original, and extremely ambitious concept executed to perfection.
people will be playing this for years...and you know what the craziest thing about that will be? the user created levels will get better and better. just think...you know there is someone out there that has been working on a level since the game came out.

@ Paul
I don't know about you, but I perfered the actual story mode levels, mostly because they were made by people who knew what they were doing, and it's nearly impossible to find the good user-made levels. I know I for one played this game for maybe a day and a half (I might be exagerating a bit) because there's really nothing to do but go from Point A to Point B and make some demonic puppets along the way.

I'm sure retailers are going to love the fact that it says "$30" right on the cover of a $60 game...

i've been waiting for this announcement forever. i'm one of the 18 people that they got to make levels for the game, but i couldn't say anything because of contract stuff. i can't wait for people to be able to play this.

I loved the game.... and I like that MM is supporting it with DLC.... but they seem a bit greedy to me. In the beginning we got a few free things to D/L.... but that seems like ages ago. Now everything they release has a price tag.... and an overpriced one if you ask me. (you didn't)
Throw us a bone MM.... Instead of asking us to bend over for it.
Still a great game thou.

From the small morsels I've played, this game is really fun. They've also made the character insanely adorable/cute.

Its a nice concept but why charge the full price tag for a game that is pretty much available for a standard price of $30 dollars? I mean chances are you might be able to find it for even $20 if you look hard enough. There have been many other GOTY editions that have come out in the past that have been priced lowered with more content that was on the original disc.
Why is Sony not taking things more seriously I mean that if you want this game to get into everyone hands price it more competitively. There are so many other games out on the PS3 that are cheaper and more worth the bang for your dollar.

ok.... Wow... Some of you guys really need to get over it andyourselves. If you dont like it.... TOO BAD! It got a game of the year edition so if you put 2 and 2 together and think.... hmmm i know!!!! MAYBE PEOPLE LIKE IT!
I own a 360 and shooters are my favorite genre of games, but i honestly don't know how fallout 3 got a goty edition too, the game is was to slow paced and its shooting style was terrible for a fps. Now you don't see me going on a Fallout 3 forum and telling someone who doesn't own it not to buy it, in fact i ENCOURAGE getting the game because many other people like it.
now if some one don't like little big planet thats too bad return it or sell it, but at least they are not being close minded idiots because of one stubborn person says it sucks
