While most people were struck with thoughts of the future when Microsoft's motion-control apparatus Project Natal was unveiled, Rare couldn't get its mind off the past. In a recent interview with VideoGamer, 15-year Rare veteran George Andreas explained the device "gives us an opportunity to maybe at some point in the future investigate some of those older IPs."
Andreas was particularly excited about one unnamed Rare franchise which would be "absolutely phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal" if it should incoroporate Natal. He added, "I think it would be an absolutely world-beating product. But we need to explore a little bit more in that direction." Got any ideas? Our money's on Jetpac -- though we suppose a motion-controlled Conker's Bad Fur Day would have its humorous, bawdy merits. Just ... make sure the blinds are closed while you're playing it, okay?

Rock n' Roll Racing on the SNES is easily one of my most beloved games from growing up. I guess you could do the steering with Natal holding your hands out, and then for the lasers or sun dog bullets (is that what they were called?) you could just say "PEW PEW!" and still hear the announcer going "Olaf, LIGHTS 'EM UP!"

The stage is set. The green flag drops!
Shred scores a first place knock out!
Rip finishes second.
Viper takes a weak third.
Olaf is in another timezone!

Rock N' Roll Racing was developed by (what is now) Blizzard and published by Interplay. Rare developed R.C Pro-am which was released on the NES

Microsoft is the sole reason Rare sucks ass now. Half the development team dipped out after the acquisition, and for good reason.

let's face it rare has been garbage without Nintendo. Which means Nintendo was the brains behind those games

Or more like most of the people behind all those classics have left the company since then...

It's a well known fact that Microsoft has bigger plans for Rare. Rare has been around for 27 years and created some fantastic games, though they have other talents that Microsoft is not willing to reveal just yet.

I disagree. Viva Pinata is a great game that built momentum based on word of mouth. It really is worth checking out. The problem I found was that retailers near me weren't stocking it initially. Took me 2 months after release to find. I'm not sure if it was because people were buying it so quickly or because retailers simply weren't interested in carrying the game in any quantities. I don't think it helped in that is was the first 360 game to NOT use a traditional box plastic case. The top was round and the case was a thin plastic sleeve over I believe cardboard. Looks kinda stupid in my library. But anyway, Microsoft later changed their mind and later sold the game in a standard box plastic case.

Perfect Dark. Then I can actually punch to punch people! (I don't like using guns in that game, I know it's weird....)
By the way, Joystiq hates me, first it wouldn't let me change my picture, then it wouldn't change my name, and then it stopped letting me post altogether. Was I really that offensive?

Funny thing is, for me it doesn't work on Joystiq, but it shows just fine on other blogs of the family, like Cinematical. I just don't get it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who would love to see Blast Corps again.
I could imagine that with a new-gen physics engine... *orgasm*
Heck, I'd love just to play the original again.

I'm still very skeptical about Natal's future success. But I've still got my fingers crossed that someone a lot smarter and creative will come up with something AMAZING. If someone did, I wouldn't be surprised it was Rare at all.

Killer Instinct seems like its the only one that would work as well as they are saying. Or maybe Perfect Dark... As much as I love Jet Force, RC PRO AM and a many other Rare games, most I just don't see as "world beating" with motion controls.

Kameo is way way WAY underrated. Actually, now that I think about it, Viva Pinata is a great game and while Perfect Dark Zero had a lot of flaws, it was still a good late 90's / early 2000 FPS.
But I want to reiterate, Kameo is an amazing game - hands down one of my OVERALL favorites - up there with Super Metroid, Mario Galaxy and Gears of War.

Please make a new and updated Conker. The old one is one of the only games my wife played with me. It is a dark twisted funny adult game which this gen needs.

If they were actually trying to get people excited, they should have just came out and said what IP they are looking at.
I just pictured how you would play the Conker pissing level with Natal.
