Yeah 6 months of "polish" better mean this game shines. I really hope In the Mouth of Madness, er, Alan Wake turns out to be a great survival horror and not just a horror.

Seems like everything is being delayed for a Spring 2010 release. I'm going to be broke between the months of March and June next year.

Isn't Final Fantasy XIII, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and possibly even the next Zelda due then?

Remedy is a small company correct? because that would justify the fact that they take so much time to develop a game... Still i'd rather wait and get the masterpiece than play an unpolished buggy game.

Who was it that said that all male videogame protagonists look alike? White dudes with dark hair and five o' clock shadows.

It's pretty funny if you think about it.

Am I the only one who's not really interested in this game? I mean, don't get me wrong the game looks gorgeous so far, and it's an interesting concept.. but I just can't picture it being a compelling game.
I don't know, we'll see when it's released, I suppose.

Same here, Mystile. I've been following it, but I can't really say that I'm all that interested. It looks nice and got some good buzz, but I'll definitely be waiting to see what the masses say about this game before I get really excited.

We should have a face-off between To Human, Alan wake and Splinter Cell on one side, GT5, Heavy Rain and Trico on the other, Duke Nukem to adjudicate.

Uhh, I didn't realize it was being billed as a Max Payne type game. Something about it being billed as an "intense psychological thriller" leads me to believe it's not.

In an alternate universe, I'd imagine an uglier, more gristled John Stamos would look like Max Payne? Maybe?

you obviously don't understand the survival horror genre. i dare you to play the game at 2am with the lights off and try to endure the texture pop-ins. and do your best not to cry when the frame rate drops. don't think you'll be sleeping any time soon...

Remedy needs to keep in mind that a polished turd is still a turd. Hopefully the core game is satisfying enough to not apply to that saying

If it's "done", then there's no need of "polish".

There's a truism in software development that applies in spades to game development: when you're 90% done, the real work starts.

The "polish" is actually the most important part of the entire process. It's the part where the game (hopefully) gels together; where all the components start to work together properly, where earlier levels are redone to match the artwork and assets arising from development of the more advanced, later levels. It's where the artists have refined their techniques from months or years of work, and are able to make changes across the entire scope of the game.

A game is "'done" when it hits GM. And even then there's updates to be factored in.

Therefore, Alan Wake, demonstrably, is not yet "done".
