Additionally, Sony made the Digital Comics service for the PSP official. The first announced partner is Marvel, but many more are to be announced in the future. In a chat with Eric Lempel, we found out that details like pricing and placement on the XMB are still being determined. You can check out a video of the service after the break.

In HD no less. Nice find Sam. Though that guy REALLY needs a haircut, I was focusing on his hair the whole time. Looks like an early 90's cut.

all marvel and no DC...not that i'm a big fan of comic books in general, but i do love me some batman. batman the animated series was my favorite comic turned tv show ever made. i mean, for the love of god...its animation style won EMMYS, as in plural.
anyways, for some strange reason...i have more of a feeling this is a problem w/ dc rather than a problem w/ the already existing partnerships we've seen w/ marvel based comics and sony pictures. from what i've experience in the past few months trying to look up batman and superman...dc doesn't seem to understand how important the internet can be for your business. compare the two sites and how useful it is to loo up your favorite heros/villiams.

http://www.dccomics.com/dcu/
anyways, rant over. good job on the web comics though sony, very intersting

Wow. Those "Minis" Actually look REALLY fun. Looks much better than the majority of IPhone games.

Are these services available for PSP 1000 as well, because i will then just buy a 16 gb card.
Or i will get a turquoise 3000, my Gameboy Colour was Turquoise, so it would be nice to have a turquoise psp.

I don't know why I got downvoted. I have an iPhone so I know what I'm talking about. There is some really dumb, useless games on there, not all, just most.

Probably the most unintended compliment ever. As others have aid, Sony has been aggressively courting iPhone Devs to port their games over ot the Mini service. I'm a little unclear if there are going to be apps (no, I'm not going to say "minis") that aren't games like there are on the iPhone App store. If the SDKs are equally easy to code for, this could be a boon to iPhone devs as a dual revenue stream.

(01), the issue is a lot of people just decide in their mind that iPhone gaming sucks because it has no dpad and that's that. Look at the Wii, it's proof that fun can be had with new input methods.
So when people see iPhone games on the PSP, they think the games look awesome. It's lame, because iPhone has a ton of great games that are tailor made for iPhone and control great in plenty of genres, from Eliss to Real Racing.

Some of those miniS games looked pretty cool, but I'd like to see some actual applications as well, like the hombrew programs IRShell (which has screenshot capture and custom soundtrack functionality among other less legal features) or a PDF/Word/TXT reader.
The comics looked great too and I look forward to being more of a dork when the service is available.

I think a document viewer should be built in the firmware, as the video and music player is, but I would definitely like to see that.

I like the Minis from looking at the video. About the comics, I would love to download the Marvel one (and I hope they bring DC also). One Quick question, Will they bring Japanese manga in the future? I remember they announced in Japan they'll bring manga to the PSN in Japan, I hope they do it for the US market.

Minis are a bad idea. It's just going to be a place where people can dump their shitty games in hope of making a profit. Sony, don't be Apple.

Minis are a great idea, they should have done this ages ago. I'm thinking of getting a PSP to play games just before bedtime and I don't need the latest and greatest game to do that, just something simple and fun ought to do it. My gf has the DS already and a PSP would go well with the new PS3 Slim I'm going to get. Particularly like the remote play function if developers start using that.

Does anyone care to speculate as whether the Comic service is going to be available for all countries - or is this going to be for the select few? More specifically, anyone think Canada will receive this?

Most of the games shown in the trailer are from Halfbrick, which has its own range of casual games: http://www.halfbrick.com/home/101-halfbrick-on-board-with-psp-minis-development-august-19th-2009
I found a second trailer too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LDXVPtwdhk
Pretty happy this will be working on older PSPs also, seems like a nice transition from UMD based hardware.
