Such fantastic, eloquent wordplay! Man! You see, the headline says that developer DICE's latest first-person shooter marches into the early 2010 battlefield ... because March is when the vehicular, open-world mayhem begins (that's the 2nd in North America, the 5th in Europe). Perhaps it went over your head: "march" is what soldiers do ... into a battlefield. Woah ... but isn't that also the name of the franchise? Oh, snap, it's Battlefield!
So, let's recap: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is marching this March into a video game battlefield because that is what soldiers do and this is a video game called Battlefield about soldiers in a battlefield. This March. Battlefield.
Field of battle.

Did anyone else notice that the presenters specifically mentioned Modern Warfare 2 but never mentioned MAG? Seems funny to me. Isn't Bad Company 2 more in competition with MAG than Call of Duty? Especially given the release dates for both.

No. MAG is an online only game and given the game play, its main competitor is going to be SOCOM: Confrontation and maybe a Tom Clancy game if one comes out.
BF:BC2 is a direct competitor with MW2. They both feature modern combat in both a single player story mode and online multiplayer.
I think MW2 will be a good game but I am MUCH more excited about Bad Company 2. Once you got destructible environment, it is hard to go back.

EA want some of the CoD pie so they will make sure this games is as close to modern warfare as possible. and CoD wants to be more like Bad Company (just look at the preview vids). it is like they want to swap places. i would even bet that BC will have enemy respawning in single player and CoD won't.
i'll take BF (BC, 1943) over CoD any day of the week. it is a far far superior online experience than COD.

Considering that "Wordplay" is the fourth word of the article? No, that's not weird that you knew that.

See, the thing about Battlefield trailers like that is that this crap actually happens. I've had experiences very close to this trailer and the previous one in the original Bad Company.

I was pumped, until they unveiled the removal of the Demolitions class from multiplayer. WTF? Destruction is the best part!

Demolitions still exists, just in a different format. Judging from this trailer and previous trailers, plus the E3 gameplay, the Medic class also functions as Demolitions.

I hope they fix the server issues because when i play bfbc it says connection to ea lost
Posted: Aug 18th 2009 5:40PM (Unverified) said
I wonder if they might have some servers up in OZ by then, i aint holding my breath, considering they were meant be putting them in for 1943 over a month ago i'd say we are gonna get screwed over yet again by DICE and EA. So whilst i like the battlefield games the online aspect of it will be unplayable just like BC and 1943.
Posted: Aug 18th 2009 10:39PM glennc2 said
BC is perfectly playable. i have had no problems with it at all online. 1943 is greatly improved and now very playable. it just looks like you have to wait a month or 2 after each release before they iron out the kinks.
both games are the most fun i have had gaming ever. don't ignore such a great game because the first few months had teething probs, it is worth the wait.
oh yeah, i live in melbourne.

Unfortunately DICE can't get voice chat working, as we've seen in the first one and again recently with BF1943 (for the PS3 version that is). Very disappointing to see that they haven't learned from their mistakes.
Both games are incredible, but I don't really play them much alone. And without voice chat, it pretty much defeats the purpose of playing with your friends; you might as well be alone.
What's a squad-based shooter worth without voice chat? Well, if you're a loner, you probably wouldn't mind, but otherwise it's such a waste. It's a shame too, because these are otherwise excellent games.
Bottom line, I won't be buying another multiplayer DICE game until they have the basics covered and prove their loyalty to their fans by patching up previous titles first.
