Reminder: Sony GamesCom keynote today, 12:30pm Joystiq Time

Just a reminder: Sony's GamesCom 2009 keynote is scheduled for today and, if the evidence – both the might-be-reals and the most-assuredly-fakes – is anything to go by, we're going to be treated to info on the PS3 Slim. But when's the last time you've known Sony to simply toss out a single news morsel, like raw meat to a roomful of lions? Even money says we'll be hearing more about PSP Go, and maybe some new games, some release dates (watch out, 2010!), and some motion control action.

Hi all

Heres some news stright from Germany, I am staying at a hotel with a couple of sony reps i had a few drinks with them last night and got a small amount of info out of them.

1. Firmware 3.0 will come out in sep when the ps3 slim will be avilable..
2. Expect somthing big from home, "trophy rooms will avilable tonight"
3. EU video store is on its way, wouldn't tell me when but did say "watch the update tonight" ;)
4.PS2 Games are coming to store Very soon, how soon i dont know...

Also I overheard a couple talking at the bar and they where talking about a new FF demo for the EU, like i said overheard. could this be why psn is going down for so long? they would have to make sure the servers can handle the demand!

Well thats it not much, but alittle news for you all. we will just have to wait and see tonight.....

Dang. I sure wouldn't mind getting a PS3 if they dropped the price a bit... but then again I don't have time to play the games I have. I wish I knew more people that owned one. MGS4 looks good. Little Big Planet looks interesting. Killzone 2 has some killer visuals. I have too many titles on the horizon to own more than one console. I'm envious of people that can find the time. *sigh* Back to work I guess.

Getting a PS3 at all no matter what SKU it is your making a good decision and also getting a good value. I was skeptical about it too and didn't know many people that had one. I made friends and all worked out well and I love my playstation instead of crapbox now! :D

Uncharted, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Infamous and quite a few PSN games (Flower) are some I can definitely reccomend too.

You almost have to wonder if this hasn't been an elaborate viral marketing campaign from day one to scour forums and gauge interest in a slim model and an optimal price point.

Then again, that implies creative cutting edge marketing departments exist. Mostly they just have U2 or Coldplay songs blasting with lots of quick cuts or creepy models playing meandering around with cell phones.
