Watch: Another ModNation Racers track gets built

With all the LittleBigPlanet news that's been spreading as of late, you haven't forgotten about ModNation Racers, have you? "Play, Create, Share" jumps into the world of kart racing. One of the big draws of ModNation Racers is the ability to create courses far more quickly than the average LBP level, while still being able to control minute details. At E3, the San Diego Studio created a level in front of a live audience in just a few minutes. Here, the process is accelerated down to a ninety second trailer.

The game certainly has our interest piqued. We're certainly eager to get our hands on the upcoming beta.

Ah, I see. Well you can always sell your Xbox and get this. That way you'd have a PS3 AND you could play with your friends online. And since the online is free, you would be saving that too.

I'm loving the new genre too, but I wonder where they will go next. A side scrolling 2d platformer and a Kart racer are obvious choices but I can't think of another genre that would work that well. Mind you, I'm not very creative and I'm sure there are heaps of ideas that would be awesome.

Sports themes would work. You could design golf courses, from mundane to something out of Wicked 18.

Maybe a board game creator. Something like chess, but being able to design the board differently.

A shooter would be fantastic. Imagine making your own Gradius levels.

Perhaps something like an adventure RPG. Something like RPG Maker.

It all depends on how easy they can make each style to create.

It is a great genre indeed, even though I have yet to pick up LBP. I love racing games, I love this idea, so I'm totally sold.

But, what's next? My vote is on a light-hearted third-person shooter or something like Too Human (minus the Too Human).

P.S. I liked Too Human.

A Mini Golf creation game would be awesome! I haven't played a good mini golf game since since Sierra was in their 'hay-day". Do we even have mini golf games at all anymore?

Another idea (but probably less popular): What about pinball create play share? Make your own designs, rules, theme, and even sound fx. I would get it.

yea me too. this is the first kart racer game i've been excited for since Mario Kart DS. Sony is making my pockets hurt already with all these great games coming out soon.

LBP is 2.5D vs. 3D visuals that Modnation has. imo I don't really know, but I think that would ruin LBP.

And you say you'll buy this after not buying games for a long time on that system despite the fact that this comes out at roughly the same time as God of War, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, Gran Turismo 5, and at least one other big ass game.

Tiger Woods just came out not too long ago.
I was being sarcastic, and I thought saying I got that game would've hit you on the head with the 'obvious stick'.
But in all honesty, a lot of the PS3 exclusives aren't that great.
Killzone 2 was a mediocre FPS.
LBP was fun for a short period of time, but got old quick.
SOCOM was actually pretty good, but playing with people without mics gets frustrating.

Haha you got me! But they have had a heaps of awesome exclusives since late 07. It's great to see, especailly for fans like me who have supported playstation since the mid 90s. It was awful being a loyal fan while the 360 got all this amazing stuff and the ps3 got zip.

Also PEM, get a ps3, they are only half a grand now :p

Looks like Mario Kart has been dethroned as THE kart racer. I am certainly more excited about this game than any Mario Kart game ever. And I don't even own a PS3 yet.

This is the Sony version of Mario Kart with the customization of LBP added in for good measure. I can see all the Sony characters cars and tracks as future DLC already.

Whoa... I am starting to remember my Penny Racers days on the Nintendo 64... I sure loved to create tracks on that game.

My brain is urging me tu buy this game as soon as it comes out. Well... there goes the money I was saving for college materials... I also need to buy a PS3 and a new TV cause I threw out mine out of whim. XD
