Here's a beautiful FIFA 10 trailer from GamesCom
29
We may not know much about the athletes on the various covers of FIFA 10, but we do know that this trailer looks damn impressive. In fairness, the game often looks rather stunning, but the sizzle reel that EA has whipped up for GamesCom (found after the break) is specifically meant to show off the game to its most active market -- which certainly comes through in production quality. Though we don't watch a ton of sports (and we play even less) we're legitimately looking forward to EA's next entry in the FIFA series, set to release this October.

Is it Fifa or PES that has the new analogue directional movementy thing? This looks good, but the new PES looks to have actually improved as well, decisions decisions.

FIFA, PES is probably still using the PS2 engine.

PES looked like it hasn't left the PS2 for ages, it desperately needed a facelift!
I'm all about the FIFA anyway. Lots of my mates in the UK used to swear by PES until '09 came out. Pro Evo has been lacking innovation which is why FIFA is the new champ.

Well, you have to see the new PES so you can stop with the negative comments.

"Futbol" did not come before football, thats an american myth people get from TV and smartasses, England was the first country to create a professional team that plays modern football and officially coin the term

With all this improvement in defense they better have improved AI trying to find open space, especially in the box. It was hard enough trying to even land a cross in 09, if they make the defense even smarter and leave the offense just as stupid and lazy then it will be impossible.

I think you'll find they have improved both attack and defensive hugely, only problem is, will they cancel each other out?

At Gamescom they showed the new "urgency" system in place for defense and offense. Players do now move into open space, making it much more accurate. By far I feel Fifa outshines PES. The one thing people will find attractive about PES is the whole strategy system, allowing you to tweak everything down to a tee. As an avid footballer in real life and in game, I'm so with Fifa it's not funny. My only gripe is that unless there is a major build to the game design, most things can be update via DLC. But there seems to be a number of vast improvments and mechanics, I'll buy a new copy. Meh, FOO0TY!

I hope EA release a World Cup DLC expansion for FIFA 10 rather than release a new game at the start of next year. And if they even think about releasing a FIFA 10 Road To world Cup I will flip out

Cheers, I think this might be the year I switch to FIFA, unless PES can pull some jazz out of the bag. I might get Fifa purely because they have the Championship and I want to play as Newcastle :(

I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a FIFA game (early ps1 i think) but this could be the year for me. The game looks great and from everything I've seen and read it has the gameplay depth to match.

Be A Pro sounds very intriguing. There's a similar mode in the Sony MLB games which I love. But with the ball going end to end doesn't the camera swing make you want to vomit?

the camera is actually decent. it just zooms out to let you see what the others are doing. i usually play as a striker, so the camera zooms out so i can see the back line messing with the ball and you just try to get in a decent position for a counter or go help if they're really putting on the pressure. you get points randomly throughout the match and position is one way to get more points.

Aah, it makes sense now that I've seen the video. I was expecting it to be a direct third person camera.
