Clearly appealing to our more destructive impulses, a new trailer on Videogamer.com for Just Cause 2 is inviting us to the beautiful island paradise of Palau, only so we can tear it asunder in a hail of bazooka fire and trucks tied to helicopters. We're a little ashamed to admit how well the approach is working.
We're holding out hope that when it drops in 2010 Just Cause 2 will be able to deliver on the promise that games like Mercenaries 2 and the original Just Cause were unable to fulfill, because the trailer really does look like a lot of fun. One quibble: Are we the only ones who miss Rico's Banderas hair?

I just want co-op ala Mercenaries 2. That game was the shit when playing together.

That was a hilariously beautiful trailer.

I'm tying everything to everything and then ramming it into everything else.

I never saw any marketing material for the first Just Cause except for one trailer where the main character is parachuting and doing other 'extreme' stuff, which led me to believe that the name of the game was Just Cause as in, "Just 'cuz I'm cool".
This trailer has not changed my opinion.

The first one definitely had some polish and other issues, but it was arguably an underrated game.
I loved it, and it was one of the first games I got 1000/1000 gp in.
This looks to be living up to my expectations... so color me sold. Hopefully I'm not the only one.

I'm guessing they just learned the word "unparalleled," as it was incredibly over-used. They also said "unparalleled beauty" twice, which is just kind-of sloppy in a trailer. Other than that I'll be excited to see how this game turns out. I was always interested in the first one but never got around to playing it.

Destroy something beautiful? What, like my perception of how good games can be and maybe movies too by releasing this turd? ZING!
