Oh shit! Black and White with Natal! You teach it gestures like kicking buildings or tell it to throw that child into the river.

Sure it'd still need a controller for the micromanagement stuff, but the pet would be done via Natal.

I'm excited for something non-existent =(

Hm, now that Lionhead is Microsoft property, do they go the Bungie way and only produce one sequel after the other of their most successful franchise?

I liked Fable 2 a lot overall, but I'm not sure if I liked it enough to have another game so soon.

Then, of course, you have to cut through all the typical Molyneux bullshit when you're reading these previews so in the end I'm not even sure what to believe.

Why is everyone under the impression that this is "so soon"?

It's about the same release cycle most sequels get.

In holiday 2007 we got Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc. Now holiday 2009 and Q1 2010 we're getting the sequels to all those games and I've never once heard anyone say anything about "too soon" for them.

We got Fable 2 in early fall 2008, and the sequel is targeting holiday 2010. Basically the same amount of time in between.

I bought a 360 recently specifically to play Fable II. I was a little disappointed, not because it was a bad game because it wasn't. Like most of his games I found it to be very very good, but he/they always seem to miss the step that makes the game brilliant. If he ever does make that step then I predict that it will be the best game evar!

Not coming in 2010?

Do you think they like, threw the engine out the fucking window?

Seriously, do you?

It's obvious they're not overhauling the game like they did with Fable 2, they're making edits and improving things. This is DEFINITELY worthy of more than a year or two of work.

That being said, they PROBABLY started the CONCEPTUAL cycle last fall after it came out. It's VERY easy for them to get shit out like this when they plan ahead.

I'm trusting them on this 2010 release date. If not early 2011. IT's gonna depend on next year's fall releases... Which may be iffy, being New Vegas is being predicted as a release date around that frame too.

I'm going to be honest here and hope to god that this one is actually a good game, cause as much as I loved the first one, the second one sucked. And I had a terrible experience with it.
In under a week I encountered 3 separate game breaking glitches, and because of the terrible save system, I was forced to start a new character each time. Besides those, and the numerous small and annoying (yet still playable) glitches, I enjoyed the story, but in the end brought the game back to gamestop, the only one I've ever done that for, and I own that barley playable Sonic game for the 360.

This honestly doesn't impress me. The first Fable seemed to ahead of it's time when it released. Fable II and now III (from the features talked about here) seem so behind now in terms of, well, just about everything. I enjoyed Fable II, don't get me wrong, but I mean come on. You can actually physically interact with people now? Woop-de-do! I imagine this will be another game where Molyneux promises epic scale and a "go anywhere" scope only to give us fishtank sized world....

Then again, I do hope I'm wrong and Fable III is what Fable II should've been.

Well, to be fair, plenty of titles fall behind the time and still do well.

Zelda, for instance, as ahead of its time as it was originally is now eons behind the times and still does well.

I agree Storm, while fable 2 certainly had a whole lot of charm and i really did enjoy it, making my "wife" "love" me by giving her a bunch of diamonds and pumping my arms and playing my lute felt drastically underwhelming compared to the long chain of seduction in games like KOTOR or Jade Empire. I would say Mass Effect but honestly that felt just about as forced as Fable, really? you're in love after talking about alien politics and dead grandparents failures?

YAWN! Prepare for another overhyped under-performing game from Molyneux. I don't see how Fable 2 got so many awards when nothing was fucking changed at all. He'll probably use natal is some cheesy ass way while we're at it. Fable 3 will be just as underwhelming as any game from this guy, I don't even know why I get excited for his games when I know what's coming.

As long as there is an actual boss battle at the end and a good ending, I'm okay with this. Fable II missed out on so many opportunities, especially when it came to character development for your companions and the story.

Man, i dont want it to be industrialized, something about that sorta takes away the magic of it, i still wish they kept the Fable 1 setting, I think it worked so much better for a Hero King sorta deal. What good will mastery of swords and magic be when some highwayman can just use a gatling gun or something

@captain planet im as relaxed as can be but you cant deny that a game announcement with a release date attached to it is more exciting then one without. especially when its a game everyone already knew was in development, its no different then nintendo saying there is a new zelda in development, of course theres a zelda in development but that being posted doesnt change much. Although maybe it does excite people, just not me. never the less your still my hero ;)

And Joystiq's 2010 Game of Year Award goes to... Fable III!!

I am so excited for this game! Fable II was my favorite game since the original Halo came out and then Goldeneye before that.

I guess the reason everyone's so jolted about the 2010 release date is that it's because it's an RPG. And going by Square-Enix standards RPGs should be about 6-7 years of development with an info dump at the tail end of every year.

Having said that, it really sounds like Molyneux doesn't want to make RPG's any more anyway.

I can hardly wait for Fable III. I wonder whether it'll be available to download from Xbox Live in episode format, like Fable II: Game Episodes
