Aside from announcing the first three Beatles albums to be released as DLC for upcoming tear-jerker The Beatles: Rock Band, MTV Games and Harmonix today revealed intentions to bring the Rock Band DLC count to 1,000 songs by this holiday. At the current rate Harmonix is releasing songs for the franchise -- without factoring in the Rock Band Network -- that's roughly 500 songs per year.
Additionally, the companies have revealed a number of the artists that will be contributing to the holiday goal, including Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, and The Raconteurs, as well as the ever elusive "and more." You can always find out what new tracks are coming to Rock Band as DLC (and what's on the way) by using our Rock Band Weekly feature.

Wow...talk about monopoly. 1000 tracks is insane.

Who's talking about a monopoly? It's not like Harmonix signed exclusivity deals with Aerosmith, Metallica, and Van Halen, preventing their songs from going to any other music game.

...in all fairness Harmonix signed an exclusivity deal with Green Day if I remember correctly

@Sly
Hendrix? As compared to The BEATLES?!
I mean, I'm all for Harmonix winning this fight. The game looks great, and I'm all for it, but the Beatles should really lighten up a bit; it's more locked in than both Aerosmith, Metallica, and Van Halen combined. They gotta release that shit for everyone.
Same with Tool. *shakes head*

Let's hope for some old KoRn songs, not any of that new garbage. Also, Pantera is always welcome. Now some Sepultura and we're good to go in the heavier music department.

lets hope that putting Korn on that list was someone playing a practical joke on everyone reporting on this press release

They had some good songs back in the day, "Blind" is a classic, some songs from the follow the leader album were pretty good.

what if they released stuff from there new album? its supposed to go back to the "KoRn" and "Life is Peachy" album styles, they even have their original producer working on the new album with them. Anything from KoRn to Take a look in the Mirror days is fine though, please not See You on The Other Side or Untitled though, I like em but just not for Rock Band

That should come with re-smashable instruments.... almost broke mine during during a custom set list consisting of "Evenflow", "Everlong", "Pinball Wizard", "Won't get fooled again" and "Who are you". Not in that order but I almost broke it after lol.... I really have to keep in mind that no one can see my auto destructive art especially with plastic instruments..

So uh, what do you like? I'm eager to find out.
With the near-total exception of Korn, I think they're all worthwhile.

If they pick any of the songs from Cowboys From Hell then hell yes....anything after that album, do not want. I can't stand "metal" where all the guy does is screech and/or grunt non stop, and that's what the Pantera singer started doing after their first album.

The first 2 Pantera albums got better and better with each release:
Far Beyond Driven > Vulgar Display of Power > Cowboys from Hell

no offense, I usually like your posts, but this one is clown shoes. CFH was a great album, great thrash, but it was hardly revolutionary or a hint of what was to come. VDoP effectively created a new genre of metal. His vocal style was neither screeching nor grunting and can really only be summed up as raw power. It's flat out one of the most influential metal albums of the last twenty years. If you really like CFH then you do yourself a disservice to simply write VDoP off as "grunting".

Queen? White Stripes? Racontours? Tom Petty? Elton John?!
What a way to say "fuck you" to Guitar Hero.
Here's hoping we get a Queen 12-pack! And maybe a Pantera one too!

Yeah bro, totes!
Nothing says "fuck you" like releasing the same songs after they have already come out on GH5 and charging more for them!
lol, HMX iz so awesome. Want to jerk off to Jane's Addiction full album DLC together?

My, aren't we intelligent?
What I meant was Rock Band was getting some bands that were previously unseen in Rock Band or have shown up in Guitar Hero recently. It was more of a JOKE than anything, but if you really don't understand it, I guess I'll rewrite my comment JUST for you! :)

Looks like some good ideas, but I'll wait to judge until I know what the tracks are. It seems like HMX is narrowing the gap of songs GH has that they don't but if you don't want to shell out 60 bucks for an entire game with only a few songs you want, this makes perfect sense. I am excited to see what they come up with.
Matthew Perry:
Why not (sell them separately)? Considering that the decision to buy one over the other often boils down to a few select tracks? It keeps people in the fold that are loyal to one brand or another. How about when they release songs on both games as DLC that are the same? To the loyalists that say RB is better or GH is better get a grip on the fact that they are the SAME FUCKING GAME! I say this on GH and RB postings: Fuck Off Fanboy!

And to clarify I am not putting down people who have a preference, I am putting down trolls and bombthrowers like MP who have nothing better to do than piss people off by talking trash about one game in another game's posting. Congrats, it worked. And for the record I have BOTH, buy DLC for both of them. I don't see the fascination with trolling for one side or the other. They are not different enough for me to care. Have a nice day.

I don't see how you can own both series and not see the inherent inferiority of GH.

I meant that I don't see it as inferior, as much as flawed. I have issues with both games. While I like what GH brings to the table in terms of mechanics, RB has more variety in song choice. RB is, however, seriously unforgiving. One succeeds where the other fails.
