So, we've got the first screenshots of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Wii, collected in a gallery for your enjoyment below. And to think, we were worried that they wouldn't be able to approach the look of Modern Warfare on the 360 and PS3! Can you imagine?
All jokes aside ... have a look at the dead guy in the foreground of the above shot. Does something look a little odd to you? Perhaps a closer look is in order. And those clouds? Didn't we see them in our Betamax copy of Apocalypse Now. Sure, old flat gun here looks like he's in a real screenshot, but if you think about it, that's even more terrifying.

No...in this case, E is definitely for effort. Or obvious lack thereof.

Ugh, I have to agree, not good.
I don't understand why people keep trying to put 'realistic' games on the Wii. Sure, we want first person shooters and that, but heres an idea, try something like this:
http://pixelatedgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/battlefield-heroes.jpg
Mario Galaxy had the same style and looked brilliant, so forget about hi-res textures, go vectorised and people will love you for it, it'll be different, it'll not look like something from 1994 and it'll probably be more fun to play too.
But hey, what do I know, someone obviously thought this looked like some sort of a good idea. Fools.

we didn't complain about trying to be realistic on the ps2. I just wish half the wii games could start looking and playing BETTER than those PS2 games. It is more powerful right?

I think it's good enough effort since Wii players won't buy the game anyways. EA is just trying to get coverage in all their games no matter how sow they sell. Any one that could ever remotely like the game, already owns an HD console or a pc since the online probably will suck..

It shouldn't take too much effort to make a great looking Wii game (by last gen standards). After all... the Wii is more powerful than the Gamecube, and the gamecube was slightly more powerful than the ps2/xbox. Theres really no excuse for having such bad graphics on the Wii.

@kaBob799,
The gamecube was more powerful than the PS2, but weaker than the Xbox.
That said, I agree that this looks bad even by last gen standards. games like RE4 and Splinter Cell looked pretty good with the realistic style, but this looks even worse than gamecube.

Actually, you're wrong there...
Xbox may have had a faster CPU and GPU then Gamecube, and it did indeed have more RAM
But aside from that ALL of Gamecubes hardware was faster (FSB was faster, RAM was faster, it has a much larger CPU Cache)
In reality, when clock speeds are that close, they don't matter, it's the little things like the FSB and cache that do. so in reality Gamecube was capable of a lot more then Xbox, and a lot more then people really ever saw. The thing that prevented it from having great looking games (for the time) was those little 1.8GB discs.

This is ridiculous, this game looks ridiculous, a developer trying to get a game that looks like that out is ridiculous. This wouldn't even look good on a PS2.
Well, I sure miss the time where developers thought making a good game was just as important as making money.

Yep, MGS2 looked far better than this, and that came out what, one or two years into PS2's lifespan?
Now, plenty of games still don't measure up to MGS2, but it's not much to ask for at least the level of DETAIL that it had, if not the art direction.

I want to know just what kind of asshole buys a Wii to play Call of Duty anyway. Who are they trying to please here? Neither hardcore gamers or casual gamers are going to want to touch this.

They're trying to get idiot casuals to buy. For instance, everytime I go into a gamestop here (central Florida), there's usually a dumb redneck that comes in and pounces on anything with Call of Duty on it.
I preordered Uncharted 2 for ps3 obviously, and assassin's creed 2 and modern warfare 2 for 360 and they asked me if I knew that U2 was for PS3. They only ask because people are morons and don't know they're getting games on 2 different systems. These are the people Activision is trying to trick into buying MW for Wii.

thats nothing new. anybody that ever worked at a gamestore can tell you that theres people that dont know the difference in game consoles. Hell, i remember way back when somebody asked if N64 games can be played on Playstation. I kid you not. And one kid had this discussion with me sayin "why cant the three companies make one system that plays all games?" Uh, its called competition for a reason, jackass! lol!
and i cant count the amount of times when people asked for mario or halo on ps2, or god of war on xbox, or sonic on nintendo OH WAIT THATS RIGHT!! lolz!

As mightily as I tried, I couldn't find any sort of ranking for top game genie NES codes from back in the day. I had one then, but can't honestly remember what I really thought as awesome about it? So maybe I'm losing my memory, or it just sucked balls...
