Things have been fairly quiet on the Lego Universe front since the game was first announced over two years ago. Developer NetDevil finally broke radio silence today, releasing a handful of screenshots which depict, in no particular order, the game's login screen, a character creation menu and a spiky-haired block-man running away from ninjas and pirates. Mind you, those two groups are pictured in completely separate images -- history has taught us that they wouldn't be caught dead intermingling.
Our innate fondness for meticulous bricklaying and level grinding has set our anticipation for this title ablaze -- unfortunately, with a nebulous "2010" release window, we've got no clue as to when said flame will be doused by the cool waters of satisfaction.

Don't worry, you can buy Mega Bloks Madden and save $20. You get an inferior product and that fuck wad neighbor of yours will say you're poor, but your Mom still thinks you're cool.

I've been waiting for news on this game for quite a while now. However good the Lego Star Wars/Batman/Indiana games may be, I still want to see a full-fledged Lego game, with real building, and lots of versatility. Ninjas and Pirates? Sold.

Lego games were so frikken awesome because they were based on something most of us played when we were children (I'd still build a full set with no complaints), and the video games offered so much variety and versatility, in the same way the bricks did. I dismissed the lego console games because I thought they were built for children, but I think i'll keep an eye out for released/upcoming lego games.
Thanks for reminding me how awesome lego was, joystiq.
