Speaking to Joystiq at GamesCom, Activision has officially confirmed what retailer listings have indicated for quite some time: DJ Hero will wind up on shelves starting October 27th in the US and "late October" elsewhere -- likely the week of the 27th. However, the retailer-derived price of $120 (and $200 for the pictured "Renegade Edition") has yet to be confirmed.
DJ Hero will come with 93 mixes, comprised of 100 individual tracks. The game's guitar mode will be compatible with Rock Band axes and microphones. Yes, microphones. Though plugging in a microphone offers no major gameplay additions, the peripheral can be handed to the drunkest person in the room for random shoutouts and other foolish remarks. USB mics are a go, but we're following up to see if wireless mics will also be accepted.

I would bet money this guy will pick up Brutal Legend. But seriously what's the point of posting if you don't like the game in the first place.

If this were Harmonix, y'all would be cumming in your pants. I'm no fan of Activision's business practices, and the "Hero" series is definitely bloated, but that doesn't mean this game won't be fun. I'll definitely be picking it up...realistic or not, it looks more fun to play than Beatmania or Scratch: Ultimate DJ, especially given the mixes. I mean, Jay-Z, Eminem, Nirvana, Gorillaz, The Zombies, fucking Queen vs. Daft Punk. Must have.

Exactly. This game has gotten a hefty amount of praise, and a good majority of the people who have actually played it seem to enjoy it. If this was not a "Hero" game, and it wasn't published by Activision, all of you fuckers would be all over this, just like any other highly praised game.
And no, I really don't think the controller is that expensive. The turntable controller is based on scratching, and frankly, I want a STEEL axle for the controller. Not a plastic axel that will bend and render my controller useless since you can't play if you can't scratch. I want it to be almost frictionless. I want the build quality to be top notch.I want a nice grip coating on the surface of the turntable, which is easy to hold and play on, not a smooth controller your hands will slide around on.
If it's $120, thats one thing, but if it's a $120 game with a controller that won't fall apart in 5 months due to standard wear and tear, and will be very comfortable to use, that's another.

I'm a Rock Band zealot, and yes - The Beatles: Rock Band has required a trouser change from me on at least five separate occasions. Guitar Hero has lost the war on my personal preference in band games.
However, I'm actually willing to give DJ Hero a chance. But first I'll need to compare it to 'Scratch: The Ultimate DJ'. I'm a savvy consumer, so I'll throw my money at the best jukebox man simulator around. Fight for our love and dollars I say!

No, I probably would still think it's a bad idea. $120 for a single player experience. No thanks, I'll go buy a full band game for about $180 or so. Only 60 dollars more and with three times the hardware....deal.
Sure, it being Activision doesn't help...mostly because I get the strange feeling that this will get hardly any DLC support in the 2-3 months before they announce the sequel.

Yeah. I really wish Acti didn't have to slap on the Guitar Hero brand to it, but it looks like a really fun game. The remixes I've heard so far are rad.
The only thing that worries me is that I'll want to buy DJ Hero before Scratch comes out, and then we find out Scratch really IS the better game.

I bought a microphone and a mini amp for that sole purpose.
You can see me in the city center every Tuesday night.
It's a great way to voice my nonsensical ramblings. Out loud!

If I was into the hippity-hop, I would pick this up in a second. They have poured so much love into this game. It's going to be fantastic.
As it stands however, I just don't care about the music. Hopefully one of my friends buy it so I can play it at their house.
