New Diablo III 'Monk' class dropped on Korean Blizzard site

[Update 2:59PM – Blizzard VP Chris Metzen just confirmed the Monk during BlizzCon's opening ceremony. They've got a cinematic – surprise! – that we'll nab for you as soon as it's available. This looks like in-game footage though; it's not the normal Blizzard-quality cinematic.]

While the opening BlizzCon ceremony is just minutes away, one potential secret has already been spoiled ... by Blizzard itself. The mega-developer's own Korean site revealed the above image, showing off all the way to the right ... a new Diablo 3 class. Judging by that nifty saffron-colored robe, we're guessing this is the long-rumored Monk class. More info as we gather it.

So much about thier total bullshit about no returning classes other than the barbarian.

The monk was never a Blizzard class. It was added in the expansion that Blizzard's sister studio Sierra published. Technically Blizzard was truthful. Also, that expansion sucked.

I swear to god if the monk is a real class I'm going to punch someone in the face. Such a shitty class idea, and it came from a shitty D1 expansion that wasn't even made by blizzard.

The Monk is a great concept. Martial arts, awesome sweeping staff moves, some kind of inner magic. What could possibly suck about it?

I was hoping for the Paladin but the Monk would probably replace him. I doubt the druid or assassin will return.......here hoping its the Amazon!

blizz already said no D2 classes other then the barb are coming back....unfortunately

I had so much fun playing with the Assassin class :(

I never understood what people's fascination with a monk class was, people are always begging for it in WoW. Monk's are just regular guys that live in a church and pray a lot, they arent all kung fu masters and dont have magic powers!

I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard took a little creative license to give "magical powers" to their Monk class.

Something about being a regular guy that lives in a church and prays a lot just doesn't sound that interesting from a gameplay perspective.

Well, barbarians shouldn't have any sort of magic either, but they do in the game. It's a near certainty that they'll give the Monks some sort of mystical or mind-over-matter type powers.

My assumption is the monk would be a bit of a branch to a paladin type class. I would have loved to see a cleric class diablo 3.

That was one of my favorite classes in D&D when I used to play it heavily. I can't wait to see what other classes will be in the game.

Cleric class? Might as well go all the way with an accountant class, mang.
But seriously, I need this on consoles. My comp isn't poo but it isn't jacked like a racehorse either.

D3 will be aimed to the Hardcore market happy about that!... And I do know that this new series will bring doom to the WOW when it finally comes out next year God I hope it has a release date hopeful by late 2009!.....its been in limbo for to long I hate it when game publishers do that to us gamers!...

I've been getting screens and the Monk looks *cough* pretty badass *cough* well. I got all hyped for nothing.
