This was the worst Zombie map of the lot I thought, way too chaotic and far to difficult to organize any sound strategies. I much prefer the swamp and asylum. Conversely, it had the best MP maps of the three packs, save for maybe 2's Banzai IMO.

2's banzai was fantastic. and yeah, i do like the new MP maps. revolution especially, since it's like COD5's version of bloc from COD4, which is a sniper's heaven.

but i sadly have to disagree with you on the part about der riese. it's my favorite map so far. you can make sound strategies. you know teleporter 3? have 1 person go into the tunnel and watch the window. 1 person takes the balcony to watch the window up there, and to shoot zombies down bellow. 2 people set up in front of the platform to the teleporter, and look through the door. if you line up right, all the zombies would come in a straight line through the door, which makes for easy killing.

that strategy is guaranteed to get you to level 25 with a decent team.

now, assuming you start to get swarmed, tell the tunnel person to come out of the tunnel, and have everyone go up the stairs to the balcony. 1 person off to the side, 2 at the top of the stairs, and the other still at the balcony. also, to save ammo, at the start of each round, send out the person with the best guns to turn on the electricity barrier, and run back. you'll be surprised by how helpful it is.

You're probably right. I'm sure if they put out a Map Pack 4 I'd warm up to De Rise immediately, I didn't like Swamp at first either. I haven't really played it much though, had to wait a few days to get it as I had a busy weekend, so most of the friends I'd play with had already gone off and done their own thing. I don't think I've made it past level 14 though, so maybe I'm just too quick to judge.

I still don't like how chaotic it gets though. One thing I loved about the other maps was being able to hold down a single room if you were up to it. This one seems to be all about movement, all the time so I just can't get any of my previous luck-outs to work for me. Maybe it isn't the worst, but it is my least favorite right now.

i just got to level 26 with 3 other people, and we all just stayed in the room i told you about. chaotic? definitely. but we didn't move at all. but i guess we did get extremely lucky, since all four of us had upgraded ray guns and monkey bombs. and one had an upgraded wunderwaffe too.

in fact, now that i think of it, the reason we died was because we moved...

I just can't sit still. It has the most exits of any map, and there is that rushed sense that you absolutely need to unlock the upgrade vendor right away. I've had some luck holding down single rooms before unlocking too much of the map, but it never helps that the best weapon I usually end up getting is a BAR out of the box. Definitely need to play it more, though W@W has taken a backseat to other games these last two weeks for me. Maybe I'll fire it up here soon and my luck will have changed...

yeah, it does have a ton of exits. the problem is that you usually get caught on something while running to an exit, which gets you killed.

also - upgraded wunderwaffe is insane.

I doubt Cod made $65,000,000 on that. To be a total dick, it would be $64,935,000 duh :)!
Anyways... my real point is with so much account sharing going on the the PS3, I'm guessing quite a few less people actualy "bought" the map packs than people downloaded

im not sure how account sharing works, that is if it's something different than just two people playing on it, if it is that after all one of them would have to buy it

In this case yea $10 dollars well spend by console gamers, even better for pc gamers cause map packs are free! (the only sad thing is that we have to wait)

And Infinity Ward is saying they plan on only making 2 map packs... You know, they can't leave the money printing machine on at all times. Gotta give that s a break.

A lot of people discount WaW because it's yet another WWII game, and it wasn't made by Infinity Ward, but I have to say, Treyarch did a pretty good job with this one. They built upon the very solid CoD4 MW engine and made a pretty fun game in it's own right. The additional content, play modes, and consistent offering of double XP weekends has kept me coming back.

I kind of wish more games were based on Infinity Ward's engine.

$65,000,000 means the WW2 games will never go away. Expect more World at War - Hope European Theater and Eastern Front.

How much does Treyarch and Activision actually get to keep out of that 10 bucks? I'm assuming Sony and Microsoft take a considerable piece each time.

i've not been a fan of treyarch, but i must commend them for committing to their community and to their game and being active in updating with new maps and patches.. i know it cost more in the end.. but, it's all good because game play improved and maps are great..
