Press Disc? That's cool. I hope the "cataclysm" refers to The Sundering that happened thousands of years ago and not some new catastrophe that tears Azeroth apart, but i guess if old zones were completely reworked that'd be cool too

It'll presumably be some massive new threat. But it's a shame they're probably going to wipe over a lot of the classic content with it - sure, a lot is unused, but it's so much nicer than BC or WotLK.

Can't wait. It's going to be awesome. Now if I could stop taking 6 month breaks and get one of my toons to 80 before this expansion comes out, I'd be set.

*sigh* guess even selling my account wasn't enough to keep me away forever. Damn you blizzard

Since I'll be starting from scratch I may as well try Alliance this time, and their new fancy worgens.

you can get your account back, just call customer service and tell them you sold your computer or something and you left your login data on there. You might have to send in your birth certificate or something but my friend's done it like 3 times

Nah, I left right before Ulduar and so much has changed. I've been through that 3 times and catching up on all the missed stuff is such a pain in the ass.

Since cataclysm is going to change the old Azeroth completely, I may as well start over then. Perfect time to do it if any.

I demand a Worgen rogue though, as those are my specialty. Rogues are the only class I had fun leveling from 1-80. Mage and Warrior had their moments for me, but lots of boring patches...and you can't ever dps as a warrior cause everyone expects you to tank, which I guess I shouldn't complain as it always guaranteed me a group and I was quite good at it.

what? You said you quit just before Ulduar? Warriors do fine dps now, ever since DKs came out the tank shortage hasnt been a problem, you can do whatever you want as a warrior now, i get pugs all the time as an Arms/fury dps.

Yeah I actually found a buyer for my account literally a day after the Ulduar patch so I never got to experience it. On my server, dragonmaw, we've always had a huge shortage of tanks and healers for whatever reason. Random groups we usually had DPS warriors tank or DPS death knights tank, which aggravated me because they were never geared enough or good enough to hold my insane damage.

Guild groups were always good though since we were one of the best on the server. Loved doing daily dungeons and heroics in 30 minutes.

Didn't they nerf DK tanks in the last patch? An RL friend switched back to DPS after it.

I quit after getting to 80 and this certainly isn't getting me back.

WoW has just become about Blizzard seeing how many previous resources they can reuse.

Old Raids? Sure let's just up the level.

Old Armor sets? New stats and re-color and their good to go. Didn't palette-swapping go out in the early 90s?

Old zones? Sure, set some stuff on fire and call it a flashback.

It's quickly becoming World of We've seen this before, haven't we?

Blizzard can't please everyone.

Especially not the kind of person who says they're bored sitting at 80 one day, then the next day says the patches and expansions are coming out too soon, then the day after that says the newer content sucks and that Blizzard should bring out vanilla servers, and then on the fourth day blasts them for revisiting old content.

I'm happy with what I'm seeing.

Honestly, unless there are some truly interesting gameplay innovations in WoWCat, I'm not very interested in returning. Right now it just sounds like more of the same, and the formula got old for me quite a while ago.

More of the same? This looks like about as far as they could realistically get from the style of the previous expansions. The old world is gonna get totally destroyed (set some stuff on fire and call it a flashback? Did you watch the trailer, or, y'know, look at any of the information released?), and I think this is probably the best direction that they could have taken.

And about as close as you could get to the original vanilla release, heh.

I don't think they've really said, but there are several possible reasons -

So that they can release an expansion a year, like they want to.
Because revamping all of the old content takes a lot of work, which means less new content.
So that they can release more expansions before a level 100 end boss dude (this is purely speculation as far as I'm aware)
Because this expansion is supposed to have more raiding content than the other two, so less focus on levelling and more on endgame.

Sorry but this all sounds rather uninspiring. I'll probably get it for a month or two but not beyond that. The starting zones for races have always been one of the most fun, and I'd like to see what they have for the Worgen and Goblins, but I probably won't stay long beyond that. Have been clean for about six months now.

Yeah, I'll probably resubscribe for a week or two, or however long it takes to get to 85, do all the quests, and a few raids.

At least their expansions don't take a year to get through like Everquest ones did. These are pretty quick and fun for the time it takes to do everything but the top 1% of the end bosses.

It's pretty unfortunate that this came out *after* the guild wars 2 trailer that was shown off earlier today. It looks very uninspired by comparison, I was distinctly underwhelmed, wheras if i'd have seen this yesterday i'd probably be all over it.

Guess i'm changing MMO's soon eh.

Because it's more of a focus on end game in pre-existing areas, rather than grinding across an entire continent that you'll never visit again.

Apprently the reason they are only adding 5 new levels is so that they can fit in some more expansions before they reach the level 100 mark.
