We imagine you're just as excited for James Cameron's upcoming film, Avatar, as we are. How can you go wrong with blue people, right? The game's first trailer though -- it unfortunately lives up to our expectations for games based on licensed properties, including cheesy rock music right on cue at the one minute mark. We're hoping a demo lands before the game's planned December release window.
As pointed out in our hands-on with the game, the visuals certainly do pop with color, but the action itself seems to lean toward the generic side of things. That being said, we hear the blue giants are playable in the game. That's something different, right? Right?!
No more or less that it bothers me that: - HALO wouldn't be able to have gravity as in the game - Almost every space-based game completely ignore newtonian physics - A personal "mini-gun" for any game/movie is impossible for tons of reasons - Practically all future-based games/movies use weapons/tactics that seem WAY behind what we have now (except for replacing bullets with laser blasts) - etc...
Also, as for the people talking about how bad the CGI looks in the movie, you need to get out and read articles other than what's on gaming sites. James Cameron specifically stated that he wanted some things to not look too real, to provide more of a dreamy fantasy feel.
Your reasons can easily be explained away. Artifical gravity generators, having never flown in space, most people don't really notice it/might not be that fun, superstrong individuals can use miniguns fine, but other than the weight and kickback, nothing is stopping anyone from using a smaller one, and again, no one would notice. Physical projectiles I don't see going away anytime soon.
Palm trees and bamboo are obviously earth plants. That would almost be like them having deer in the movie/game. There's no way they could have evolved the exact same way. Similar plants could exist because if they evolved once, it's proof the design works, but these are the exact same plants. They would have had to have been placed there.
Indeed. This was definitely an accidental duplicate and it's totally my fault. Sorry to you and others who had already seen this trailer. I was tired (which is no excuse for stupidity like this) and literally have no idea how I could have missed the trailer in a post I not only checked, but (as you point out) linked in my post. Blurg!
Hahahahah yes, so chunky. I love how they preface the video with "The following is in-game footage." I keep forgetting that I really won't be blown away by a game's graphics until the next gen consoles come out.
I have 0 interest in this movie and 0 interest in this game. When someone has to spoil his own movie in a Ubisoft press conference, you just know it's going to be shit.
I saw the Imax 15 minute preview, and man, I could not disagree more. Everything you have seen so far does not compare seeing it on a giant screen in 3D, but it seems you already made up your mind....soooo.
I saw the 3D footage in IMAX and the online trailer does absolutely no justice for how impressive this movie looks. Each scene they showed was so gripping visually and narratively.
Why's everyone so down own the movie? You guys are all going to be proven wrong when it releases. Some people have absolutely no gauge on if a movie is going to be good or not. You sir, fail.
Technically it's an american cartoon inspired by anime. But yeah....I thought they were talking about the Avatar cartoon at first to. But the cartoons movie is called "M. Night Shyamalans : The Last Air Bender" which totally confused me when I heard "James Camerons: Avatar".
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is magnificent. I don't care if it's a show for kids, it's amazing and if you haven't watched it then definitely check it out. M. Night Shyamalan is making a movie out of it, and I seriously hope it turns out well.
I'm busy watching Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni. It's like Lucky Star - Lightheartedness + Unspeakable Violence And Maniacal Laughter. But yeah, I'll get to Avatar eventually.
You seem to be confusing "Avatar" with "Avatar:The last Airbender". COMPLETELY different things. That said im more intrested in seeing Aang fighting the fire nation then blue cat people. Wait did i just say that? Dont tell anyone i watched that show! *runs*
I am all for new and exciting games. I can't believe you guys think this is generic. I mean have yall ever seen a game where your a person blowing up aliens like this? I think not /sarcasm
Can someone explain to me why this movie is so big??? I keep hearing about how big it is and how its so special but it doesnt look THAT good. The way people are talking about it you would think its the second coming of jesus.
I just saw the trailer for the movie and I must say I'm not that excited about it. I guess a bunch of CGI doesn't impress me anymore. Neither does blue half naked aliens and I thought I would at least be excited about that! o_0
