A demo for only today?
I find that pretty odd, if it's a demo won't you want to leave it in the store so that you can gather some more sales?

I can tell you now, as someone who works at Best Buy, chances are this isn't coming down at 330. At my store, I'm keeping that bad boy up for as long as possible. Plus, no one is going to remember to take it down, unless one of the managers is a dick and keeping an eye on the time.

so I guess its more along the lines of YMMV

Reading the Best Buy site, it sounds like the limited time today is just for the "special hosted demo event" where someone will be on hand to talk about the game. I read it as the actual demo/display will be up for considerably longer. Only some of the stores have the specially hosted thing (shame, my local store is one of them, but it should be about over).

I just called my local BB and they still have it up (4:50 PM). I expect they will keep it up 'til closing.

Just called again. They are keeping The Beatles: Rock Band set ups... set up... from now until after the game ships. My local Best Buy had Rock Band already, and now it's just being replaced by this new Beatles disk.

I went to blockbuster the other night and they had the demo build out for everybody to play. No weird time limit or anything. Jammed on Day Tripper. I'm gonna have to get this one...that and Lego Rock Band. Too much fun...

Yeah, my local Blockbuster had their Rock Band 2 koisk upgraded to a Rock Band 2/ The Beatles: Rock Band kiosk like 4 days ago. You can choose between the original RB2 demo or the new Beatles demo. The Beatles demo has like 5 playable songs, and it's not a limited time thing. I'm willing to bet it will be there for awhile. So if anyone remembers their Blockbuster having a Rock Band 2 kiosk, I'd hazard a bet that if you went there now you could play The Beatles: Rock Band.

Dammit, the closest best buy to me has it but its like 30 minutes away and I have no way to get there.

And also, if it hasn't been shown already, I hate the Jonas Brothers and most Disney Channel so much that I insult them regularly to my friends. They are absolutely fine with that. The only exceptions to this are the works of Demi Lovato (her > any other Disney star) and the songs from Phineas and Ferb.

Yes, I watch Phineas and Ferb. Why? I'm 12.

I'm 12 and I'm ecstatic for this. Heck, I have a classmate who practically knows the words to every Beatles song ever.

Do some research with the age group before you say they won't be interested.

Oh, and PS: Many people consider the Beatles the best band ever. Many people think Rock Band games are awesome. Do the math.

Just from reading Tre's comments, he is no ordinary 12 year old. He's actually exceptionally smart, but I do agree that good music knows no boundaries.

However, I do believe his generation, as well as mine (I'm in my 20's), have to contend with VERY bad music.

The music industry is forgetting where it came from, and Sheryl Crow said it best: "All our pop stars look like porn..."

It's difficult to show people good music when Miley Cyrus has them hooked with pop candy, pre-rendered lip syncing.

But, that's what Rock Band's for, right?

Well, pretty much everyone knows a lot of Beatles songs... and they were a great band. However, their real fanbase would seem to be mostly boomer d-bags who will still go crazy for a washed-up ex member moaning pitifully on stage.

I guess an allowance would have to be made for their children who had to listen to it all the time. Still, I wouldn't expect a massive reaction. I suppose we shall see from the sales numbers in a few months.

@Mokona - I am also unsure about how this will sell. Does the videogame and Beatles audience cross over enough for it to be a hit? It will be interesting to watch.

@tre - While you sound to be a well adjusted, intelligent 12 year old, I must argue that most aren't. There is a reason Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, and High School Musical sell millions...

@Professor Lario : Just to give you an idea about the crossover of the video game and Beatles audience. I pre-ordered this game from EB Games. I NEVER pre-order from EB Games.

Keep in mind both audiences cover a very large age group.

the link says "Starting Sunday, August 23, these stores will have playable versions of The Beatles: Rock Band. With more than 800 stores participating, there's bound to be one near you." so nothing about them being taken down after 3:30pm

I played it at game crazy last night its really good.

yeah guys. seriously. faffy is right. the special hosted demo events are from noon to 3:30 today. the playable game is just starting today.

yay! my local best buys are doing this! that's really rare.

Yeah, just a heads up. Best Buy was supposed to receive it's shipments yesterday via ups, however they did not arrive for quite a few stores. Be wary of this and call ahead in advance to avoid any disappointments!

This happened to me, all 4 Best Buys in my area don't have their shipments in yet. Do they deliver things to Best Buy on Sundays?

Seeing as how we've never really dealt with an instrumental game before, I think these limited time demos are just the thing we need, just so we know what we're dealing with,

Game Crazy has the demo as well. I sent the tip into joystiq on friday but they didn't post it. :(

Anyway, Game Crazy stores should all have the demo now.
