I went to EB Games yesterday and they were selling elites for 349.99 and I asked them if they've heard of the rumoured price drop to 299.99, and they said that they havent heard anything official, but they are getting a new elite bundle on august 28th, but they don't know the details yet, I'm assuming that this is it.

I believe the Elite currently costs $400, the wireless adapter $100 and Halo 3 goes for around $45-$50 new. So that bundle saves you about $200 overall. Though, as I've insisted in countless fanboy firefights, I don't care about wifi. And I doubt there are many people left that want to own Halo 3 but don't already. This bundle might have sold like hot cakes a year ago but it seems redundant now. Then again, the article only mentions Canada so who knows

A lot of people must still want Halo 3 since it's always in the top 10(sometimes top 20) best selling Xbox 360 games every month according to the NPD.

The price drop for the Elite will hit Canada soon I'm sure, cutting the $200 value somewhat.

nutman:
ODST includes all the Halo 3 online content, so if you're just looking to play Halo online, Halo 3 will have little value a few weeks from now. I would have to imagine those playing online will be playing ODST even if they're playing the Halo 3 maps.

I don't know many people who don't own a 360 but own Halo 3, since I am assuming this bundle is meant for people who have yet to buy one.

@LS2LS7

ODST comes with the Halo 3 multiplayer on a separate disc. So the are compatible with each other.

Sonic:
Fair enough. Either way, if you buy Halo 3 right now (in this bundle or otherwise), you're really just buying it for the single player, because you're going to get the whole multiplayer when you get ODST.

Fuck thats an awesome bundle, but I wonder if this means that the 360 price cut wont come for a month or two.

i thought it goes arcade 199, pro 299, and elite 399.
so if this bundble is 349, im guessing without the adapter and halo 3, it'd be 299.
which IS the price cut?

It's going to go go Aracde for $199, Elite for $299. Well, originally anyways. It might be $349 now with all that stuff bundled. Or it may be a limited time bundle. Or it may drop to $299 for Christmas.

Out of curiosity, how does this compare with the PS3 Slim's price in Canada? After all, it comes with WiFi and a 120GB HDD also.

If you ask me this a great bundle for that price.

I think this is going to be a trend for Microsoft, to include Wireless adapters in their bundles. That way, they can compete with the Wi-fi Sony offers.

agreed, i doubt that the wireless adapter costs them much money to make, so to include it in a bundle is a smart idea. include a game for that, and damn, that's hard not to pass up. if that comes to the states, i think the slim might be in for some good comepetition this christmas.

I disagree that this will be a trend. The fact that they pulled the HDMI, says that they are looking to save $. Additionally, this is a $100 retail accessory that actually sells quite well. Furthermore, if they were going to include it, they would probably just internalize it, as it is easy to accomplish (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=618054),

Xanto is right, Halo is way fruitier. You must not have seen the neon colored weapons, the sparkly, fabulous armor all the characters wear, etc.

Just imagine an FPS in a gay parade.

I just bought a new house and don't want to run a cable from the den to the living room or ruin my walls so I'm in the market for a used wireless adapter. I also really want a bigger harddrive- I don't need another copy of Halo 3 but regardless, this is really tempting...

Wireless adapter - $100
120GB hdd- $150

This bundle - $350

Could easily flip the old 360 with the old 20GB for $150 and save some cash.

Really, a 360 model with BUILT-IN wifi should have been made years ago, but then MS would be out $100

@Mychas

Considering Nintendo put it in their console which costs maybe $150 to make at launch, I doubt it's $50. Maybe more like $20 at the most.

The WiFi adapter and the 120GB hard drive is where Microsoft rapes early adopters the hardest. Gotta make back that $1.5 billion in warranty write-offs somehow!

Here's the link to buy a new Wireless adapter from Best Buy in Canada http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10067321&catid=23563

$99.99. so yeah, including that as a built-in feature would be robbing them of the ability to gouge almost $100 out of people

no, that adapter is 802.11a/b/g, which is a fair amount more expensive than the 802.11b/g adapters you will find in the Wii and PS3. that said, MS still probably charges a bit too much for it, and they should just drop 802.11a support since almost nobody uses it, and it would be a lot cheaper.

At most the adapter on it's own should cost $50. But the consoles should be having it built in already.

This helps solely for the network adapter, which is a $100 sonofabitch addition to buy especially if you had just made a substantial investment on just getting a 360. Also a little bit of Halo never hurt anyone...

The wireless adapter is 129.99 up here actually. I would love to have one, but at that rate its not going to happen. (which is why my PS3 is in the living room and 360 on my computer monitor).

I could always buy a wireless gateway I supposed, just not sure what that even is.
