The counter system is pretty great and actually makes you feel like the Batman. Very smooth and effortless.

Is it really? I was very disappointed in the demo and couldn't/can't then work out why everyone was raving about the game proper.

From the demo, I liked the detective mode but the fighting bit just reminded me of Enter The Matrix: you hammer the attack button(s) when near enemies and your character launches into kick-ass combos that look pretty but took you no skill to execute.

Like I said though, I'm open to being proved wrong on this one.

I liked the demo except for the Joker, the way people move and sound is just terrible, which is the main reason I wont get this game until its $10

It's probably the best Batman-'em-up since the first one on the NES.

the "Batman-'em-up" was a reference to the NES game, when you were fighting unarmed the spot in the HUD that shows your weapon just read "BATMAN". But yes Batman Returns on SNES was quite decent.

Soon you will face Muhammad! He will manifest his legions of virgins upon you!

Later, a son of a Saudi king will pee vast streams of money and oil at you!

okay first off, no. second, LBP came out in 2008 so batman probably would be GOTY if not for Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2 (which probably wil not be best selling game ever), and Assasin's creed 2. but at this point, it's all speculation. thrid, LBP is better than Arkham asylum. Well LBP is better than the demo because that's all i've played of AA.

Fantastic game with the proper mix of action, stealth, item discovery, and even some mild riddle solving to boot. This game could probably excel even if it wasn't a licensed Batman title, but the mere fact that it IS Batman makes it all the sweeter.

I am thoroughly enjoying it so far, but I have to say I do find the controls to be a little off.

I am never quite sure where I can and cannot grapple up to, and the general movement doesn't feel quite tight enough, overall though these are minor gripes.

Graphics are spectacular, especially when you're outside going between the different buildings on the island.

The combat and stealth aspects are fantastic, really make you feel like you are Batman. They make you feel powerful, but not overly powerful, guns are still a danger, but if you play it smart you don't have to worry about it.
