Happy Batman Day! 'New free downloadable content coming soon!'
63
It's August 25th! And you know what that means: it's Batman Day here in North America. No doubt, most of you on the East Coast in the U S of A are probably reading this having just returned from Toys 'R' Us, where you nabbed Batman: Arkham Asylum and a $30 gift card. For our Canadian counterparts, you've no doubt already snagged one of those abnormally discounted $40 copies. But, the reviews are in and Arkham Asylum is far from discount shovelware. Even though they're about to give some DLC away for free ...
Yeah, that caught us off guard as well. In some bizarre inversion of the normal game publisher / consumer relationship, Eidos and WBIE are keen on not only selling as many units of Batman: Arkham Asylum as possible but – having given away the razor – they want to give the blade away as well. The loading screen's "infocast" bar declares: "New free downloadable content coming soon!" No word on what this DLC is (more challenge rooms or new story sections?) but if you were on the asylum fence, this might be just the push you need to topple over into Arkham.

I'll laugh if its the pre-order bonus from GameStop.

It probably as the Gamestop maps. They're being offered as pre-order bonuses from some places here in the UK too, while other places are offering the "armoured Bat suit" which is unlockable in the game anyway. So I doubt those maps will remain exclusive for long.
I don't see the PS3 Joker levels staying exclusive for long either, but surely longer than this.

If Sony paid for those levels, they probably won't be free on Xbox. It would prabably be paid like Darth Vader/Yoda.

I believe it was on neogaf, but someone posted a quote from one of the developers saying that the Joker levels will NEVER be seen on xbox because Sony paid for it to be exclusive...for-ev-er.
Seriously though, he said forever.

East Coast in the house!

Yeap, I nabbed my TRU deal. HEHEHEHEHE...so giddy.
Out right, not just the best comic game ever, but the game itself just floored me in concept and design. Fantastic game. And much like the Phillies winning the World Series, no-one say this coming in 1 billion years.

Nevermind, as I see it's no longer available here on the East Coast.

If you woke up with the stomach flu, why would you consider going out? If you did have to go out, why wouldnt you take a car? If you really had no other way to get there other than running/walking, why would you chose to "speed run", which places a decent amount of stress on your body and would make you feel terrible?

I just got back from TRU scoring my copy of Arkham for a cool $29.99. Oh Canada, maybe next time!
If I recall correctly Sony paid for permanent Joker exclusivity.
From the Eidos forums official FAQ:
"Platform Exclusive
(ATTN: As confirmed by Sefton Hill of Rocksteady, the Joker will only be playable on the PS3 and will not be playable on the 360 at anytime in the future. It is a permanent PS3-only exclusive. This is due to an exclusive deal that Sony has for the video game.)"

Sorry, it's Playstation's turn to be happy with their exclusives. You had the last two years to be all like "Woot, Halo, and Gears of War!"

Permanent PS3 exclusive? I guess they needed something to market the game to PS3 owners. Oh well, I got my collector's edition.

Stupid psn store is down for maintainence. Can't download the joker maps n trying to get all my old dlc to DL to the PS3 slim. So can't do either. N oddly a LOT of ps3 save games won't let me copy em to put on my ps3 slim!?! Some work. But I don't see why Street fighter4 & resident evil5 n a bunch of non capcom games won't let me get the save game data. So I don't hafta start from scratch progress or unlocking charecters. Well atleast I could copy blazblue. Hopefully batman is copy-able. So I can play on both depending on where I am. (had spinal cord surgery, so sometimes it's just nice to lay in bed n chill n play games. Now I can do with ps3.). Btw ps3 slim is pretty heavy, but soooooo quiet n very cool. No over heating. Hopefully it's good for that. Ps3s have much better failure rates than my x360s. Have two n had to replace 1 five times n the other 4. Laaaame

Those games are currently not copy-able b/c of their online access...Sony prolly feels it leaves the door too open to people cheating for competitive trophies and the like.
I wish they'd figure out a way to better handle this though b/c it's annoying...esp. when you want to carry on your progress from one machine to another after a YLOD or in this case, moving to a slim.

I put it at the top of my Gamefly rental queue but didn't expect anything really...got an email yesterday that they shipped it because I just sent something else back in. Yay for Gamefly getting me some Batman while it is brand new!!! Can't wait for it to arrive in my mailbox.
