Happy Batman Day! 'New free downloadable content coming soon!'
63
It's August 25th! And you know what that means: it's Batman Day here in North America. No doubt, most of you on the East Coast in the U S of A are probably reading this having just returned from Toys 'R' Us, where you nabbed Batman: Arkham Asylum and a $30 gift card. For our Canadian counterparts, you've no doubt already snagged one of those abnormally discounted $40 copies. But, the reviews are in and Arkham Asylum is far from discount shovelware. Even though they're about to give some DLC away for free ...
Yeah, that caught us off guard as well. In some bizarre inversion of the normal game publisher / consumer relationship, Eidos and WBIE are keen on not only selling as many units of Batman: Arkham Asylum as possible but – having given away the razor – they want to give the blade away as well. The loading screen's "infocast" bar declares: "New free downloadable content coming soon!" No word on what this DLC is (more challenge rooms or new story sections?) but if you were on the asylum fence, this might be just the push you need to topple over into Arkham.

I bought the PS3 version just for that reason alone, the Joker DLC. (I have both consoles before you jump to conclusions). Play as the Joker, THE FREAKING JOKER!!!!!!!.
Plus the Batman Home Content looked promising. Having your own Batcave, etc.
Had it not been for the this exclusive content, i would of bought it for the 360, simply because i prefer achievements over trophies.
So to those who say the PS3 Exclusive stuff is a big "Meh", it is not.
To this Batman fan who had a choice between consoles, it was a no brainer decision to go for the PS3 version.

Hopefully they'll put some batman costumes in Home. It'd be soo cool to dress up like bats or his archrivals like the joker, riddler or twoface. Make it happen Sony!

Going to wait for the PC version on Steam, where we probably won't get anything for free, and then they'll bitch later on about low sales due to piracy.

Just bought it for the PS3, did I make a mistake?
My coworker bought it for the 360, and while the back of my box says max resolution is 720p, his says 720p/1080i/1080p.
I like the Joker DLC, but I like the idea of playing it in 1080p a little more. Can anyone explain this resolution discrepancy?

I think it's the GameStop maps. Or costumes.
Off topic (kinda): I don't know if I remember correctly but wasn't Eidos the studio that was closing down?? or something along those lines? or maybe I'm confused.

Maybe they're just referring to the free Joker DLC that's available in the store

I haven't checked it out yet but I think there is a costume for home. I know there's a batcave and other stuff that you get for free when you pop in the game.
