The Kirby we know and love is "one tough cream puff," but in this short from the mind of one MB McClain, he's a serial killer who ingests his victims in order to absorb their souls. His lovable antagonist from the games, King Dedede? He's a grizzled detective who vows to capture Kirby ... dead or alive. Yep, folks, it's another day of disturbing gaming videos here at the 'stiq.
In fact, if you have any little ones, we suggest you shoo them away before watching the trailer (more of a short film, really) after the break, lest they grow up to make the kind of video you're about to fuel six months' worth of nightmares with. While we're not sure McClain's Kirby could ever carry an entire film, he could make a good second-rung slasher absorber in the next Freddy vs. Jason.
The concept is entertaining to think about. Unfortunately, the execution was dreadful. That 'King Dedede' guy's low growl, if you could call it that, was bad and I couldn't hear what he was saying. They showed the guy who was supposed to be Kirby and he waved and said hi in a gay way. Ha ha ha, because he's pink right? So funny (/sarcasm). But can you tell me why his shorts were cut the way they were?
And WTF is up with the nasty green tint? Just an all around bad video. I would prefer Escapist Magazine and their There Will Be Brawl series branched out and did a Kirby spinoff. At least they could handle it.
Only videogame inspired Youtube film I've seen worse than this was that old "Mega Man X" Movie that some kids randomly did in the 90s. But at least that one had the excuse that it was done by kids in the 90s. This...This just has no excuse.
I can't pick out any one thing wrong with this video.
The entire thing is wrong. This should've died in the concept stage. That way we could've at least avoided Ms. Thunder Thighs and a wheezy Mr. Clean wannabe.
Man, don't post something like this without warning that it's awful. I could have enjoyed the 1-minute I watched if it had been to laugh at it. A mildly amusing premise executed by a bunch of cinematic morons. Truly terrible.
The story is fantastic; the characters they've dredged up are great parodies of themselves thrown into a "real" world.
