I'm not saying that hardcore conservatives parents are much better, but you do realize that it's the hardcore liberal parents that are always expecting everyone else to raise/provide for their children, right?

Dave,
I like how you responded to my very reasonable comment with a personal attack and no real argument. Classy. All I'm saying is that from what I've seen in my own life and from friends and family is that the conservatives parents discipline their children while the liberal parents ask their children to "please stop breaking Grandma's china." They're also the ones that always need someone to come over because they "need a break" from their kids. That's all I'm saying.

Temidien,
It's great how you don't have any compelling counter-arguments. Then again, saying that you "don't even care to begin" is certainly an easy out. Bravo! By the way, are you a parent?

WRE, you went from talking about "hardcore conservative" and "hardcore liberal" parents to just "conservative" and "liberal" parents. It's probably not a good idea to put everyone in the same groups as the more extreme among us.

@WRE:

If by "reasonable comment" you mean a grossly exaggerated statement that generalizes an entire group of people into a fictionalized stereotype, then yes, your comment was very reasonable.

@ WRE, what a broad statement...i mean ur mixing parenting with politics? REALLY? Oh and also in my life time, as not being a parent...I have noticed that all the conserv-- no 'hardcore', no...EXTREME! conservatives raise their kids as brainwashed monkeys and the line of right-wing idiocy continues! The parents force feed rubbish into their child's mind and they never voice their opinion about anything in life until they are 31 years old, in the middle of a divorce and losing custody of their kids. Only then will they rehash how everything that went wrong in their life is to blame on mommy and daddy. oh and uncle sam, can't forget about uncle sam..../sarcasm how classy of me, did you see that?

Sure thing, pal. I see you've chosen to hop on the "Democrats are cool" bandwagon. Good for you! When you grow up a little bit, maybe you'll understand that neither party has your best interests at heart and that all your CNN-fueled bullshit about "right-wing idiocy" is a big joke to keep you focused on something that has no importance whatsoever. Or maybe you'll stay a slack-jawed cretin for the rest of your life. Time will tell, I suppose. In any event, you could say that I'm more Republican than Democrat but in the words of Chris Rock, "I'm a person. I have my shit I'm liberal about, I have my shit I'm conservative about. On crime, I'm conservative. On prostitution, I'm liberal."
As far as child-raising goes, I'd rather my child grow up with a sense of responsibility than a sense of entitlement. Come back and talk to me when you make a convincing argument against the statement that every sacred cow of the Democratic Party is aimed at helping people to avoid the consequences of their choices.

There's something in the water...

All of a sudden there are zombie baby seal fetus' and you have to "get to teh choppa" before you are fed upon by the zillions of angry zombie baby seal fetus'.

We have to act fact, this legal loophole will only last so long!!

Oh and you might want to think about adding a bloody blunt bat peripheral, since peripherals are all the hype nowadays.

Previous convictions aren't being overturned and good retailers will continue asking for ID when they feel it necessary - just because the government has screwed the pooch doesn't mean that the retail industry is suddenly going to start letting little 7 year old jimmy purchase GTA.

It's only the BBFC ratings that are (in theory) legally enforced by this law, so PEGI ratings (those that this law hasn't yet made enforceable) remain unaffected, which is the vast majority of games titles sold in the UK.

yeah, the BBFC do rate the games and dvds and films... Their ratings just mean nothing now!

i.e. an 18 rated game, dvd film or even porno could be given to a 5year old. legally.

These are good times people!

It is a lot to ask of politicians to make sure that they follow legislative procedure. I mean, their job really gets in the way of all the hobnobbing, special interest group meetings, and general tomfoolery and personal career progression. Why do we ask so much of them?

That is hilarious. Hopefully, they see the tremendous spike in sales and that their greed outweighs their need to protect the children, and they say, "Well, maybe we can let this one slide."
