According to a recent dispatch from Q Entertainment producer (and former EGM editor-in-chief) James Mielke, a huge marketing push for Lumines is set to kick off in September. As part of this bold movement, both Lumines Live and Lumines Supernova are set to have their prices cut in the near future -- but arguably more exciting is the news that the trance-inducing puzzler will be making its way to the iPhone sometime in September or early October.
Though an exact release date and price have yet to be announced, Mielke did confirm that the game would hit the App Store with brand new skins and music. Awesome -- nothing makes early morning commutes go by faster than a good case of rhythmic synesthesia.

There's already a lumines clone in the app markets. The controls are so bad it's unplayable. It would be nice to have one that worked. Beware of blocks 2.

I've been meaning to buy this and now it looks like is a good time. $4.99 seems like a good price.

*GASP!* is that price your assumption?!
It's a steal at 4.99, but I'll seriously reconsider at 9.99.
14.99 was pushing it.

With this and Luxor coming out I guess I'm never going to get thru a whole day without having to charge my phone 2-3 times a day

Man, too many fun games on my iPhone these days. Especially with Worms (damn you challenge #50), I've been sucking my battery dry a lot more frequently. It looks like it's only going to get worse.

It was hard enough to play this game with the 360's d-pad (I wound up using an arcade stick). How well is it really going to control on iPhone/iPod Touch?
And no, I'm not talking about the slow, easy levels; I'm talking about the "make 60 squares in one minute" type of stuff.

I loved Lumines I and II on my PSP but held off on getting it for the PS3. Now that it's getting a price cut, I may do myself the favor and pick it up. There was the game Tatomic on the iPhone that I played for a bit to get my fixing, but it didn't have the same charm.

I'm hoping they do more DLC for Lumines Live!, personally.

Can we just have a color-blind mode on Lumines Live? I can't get past level 7, or whichever one it is that has orange and green checkered blocks and the whole jungle theme. Evil.

Wow, I never thought of that. That's a pretty interesting and very understandable problem once you think of it.
I prefer to play in color-blind mode on iPhone Peggle because it makes the dots look nicer.

It's worth it if you really love Lumines. At least with Supernova you are getting a complete game. I was unfortunate enough to pay that for Lumines Live!, and then had to buy all the add-on content (in a time before add-ons granted achievements).
Definitely go for Supernova, it's a great game. If your PS3 plays PS2 games, Lumines Plus is like than $5 too if you don't mind the lack of HDification and Trophies.
