Retailers list Gears of War 2: Game of the Year Edition [update]

The cogs of retail agree: a Gears of War 2: Game of the Year Edition will soon emerge. The package will allegedly bundle the full game with the $20 All Fronts retail compilation which includes the Flashback, Combustible, Dark Corners and Snowblind map packs along with the deleted "Road to Ruins" campaign chapter.

GameStop currently has the product listed at $40 while Amazon has it for $37; what they both agree on is that the GOTY edition has a September 1, 2009 release date. We're currently confirming the release date, price, and existence (!) of the GOTY edition with Microsoft and will update as soon as we hear back on our coms.

Update: Microsoft has confirmed the bundle will release September 1 for $40 in the US.

They will release a GOTY edition even if some 8 year old said it to his friends one day.

2008 GOTY = Persona 4.

GOTY 2008: Fallout 3.

Ouch... I forgot about Fallout. Still, I prefer P4. Fallout's a close second.

GOTY 2009: Assassin's Creed 2 (Or Uncharted 2)

GOTY 2010: Bioshock 2 (Or possibly Heavy Rain)

Shadow, I'd say that the 2009 predictions are spot-on. 2010's waaay too close to call. What about God of War 3 and all of the others that've been pushed into 2010?

do not jinx games that have not released. That would be a shame. Instead, use words like "potential" or, "expected". There are a lot less sad pandas that way.

Yeah they should be phenomenal games. I'm super excited. God pf War 3 should be dazzling as well.

Oh, and for GOTY 1982: E.T. The Video Game--Heck yeah, I like those pits and Resse's Pieces.

It's very good, actually. Super-exciting and wonderful visuals. As usual, the gameplay is awesome.

I wish they stopped calling games "GOTY", but maybe something like Gears of War 2:Complete Edition. Its not the GOTY in everyone's mind you know...

And to think I ordered this last week, for the same price too.

$40 for what some of us paid $100 for. fuck you very much epic games.

This is pretty standard though. I think the lesson is: never buy a AAA title new. There will be a GOTY edition, and it will have all subsequent DLC and bonus stuff. And the patient among us will rejoice.

Hence why I waited for Fallout 3. Their GoTY is quite the steal.

Yea really. I was soooo happy I waited so long to purchase Forza 2, got it for 20 with a ton of DLC. But I'm too impatient to wait for huge releases like Gears.
