Sgt. Johnson shows off Halo 3: ODST's Firefight mode

This latest ViDoc from Bungie on Halo 3: ODST is quite the treat. It focuses on the Firefight mode, complete with narration from cigar-chomper Sgt. Johnson himself, even revealing a few of the Achievements and Skull modifiers. It's a pretty content-rich video for only being around two minutes and, well, we'd say more, but then that would only get in the way of you clicking the play button.

I don't know what would be cooler, playing as Nathan, or playing as Mal.

It has been a little while since I played halo. I know the Brute Plasma (seen in this video) is used in halo 2, but was it used at all in 3?

@DiggyStyle: You can! He plays one of the other ODSTs, and supposedly Wash is the third. It's like kicking ass with half the crew of Serenity!

I'm more impressed by the graphics of ODST than anything. I don't generally like Halo but I may pick this up if it has a good single player campaign.

Not to mention, if I recall correctly, an open-world environment. :)

Hilarious and epically awesome at the same time... what could be better?

Some things that could be better:
- Make people's heads not look like Halloween masks in WoW..
- get rid of the dumb little gnomey aliens .. Either you are an epic sci-fi shooter, or you are Duke Nukem...please decide
- let people hook up a keyboard/mouse to the console for control, if they wish it
- stop relying so heavily on cheesy sci-fi/military cliches and spice it up with something innovative

Also, does this game still support 4-player split-screen (co-op and otherwise)? It would be a shame if the only you could get your friends together for a halo party would be to send them all home and reconnect over headsets. Of course, I suppose you could have them all bring their own TV's and 360's over... and people said that 4-player Crystal Chronicles on the GC (required 1 GC, 4 link cables, 4 GBA's + 4 friends) was expensive...

It's a console FPS, so why would they waste development time on a feature that will be rarely used. Also as it is a re-skin of Halo 3, and a modern game it supports spit-screen, but system-link and Xbox LIVE sell the multiplayer better.

what is stopping someone from using a keyboard and mouse. you can use them on a 360

The pre-order bonus is cool, the only thing that sucks is that everybody will be Sgt. Johnson; especially in the first few weeks. I know it's not that big of a deal, but I always hate in Gears when we're all playing as the same dude!

I pre-ordered from Amazon and there was nothing about this, SIR! Do you know how to find out if I get to download him too, SIR!?!?

You know, I hate smoking as much as anyone, especially when it is done around me, but what I hate more is when people complain about its depiction in media.

Like it or not, smoking is a strong character element (you should really watch The Machinist, read Watchmen, or if you're really 12, pay close attention to Bender and Zapp Brannigan on Futurama), and if Johnson wasn't sucking on a cigar, I think I'd find him rather boring. He'd be one cliche shy of a badass.

...I certainly hope not.

I'm not getting mad at the fact that he's smoking, I was just making the obvious "SMOKING KILLS, DANGIT!" post.

Now I feel like an even bigger buzzkill than Buzz Killington. (The Family Guy character, not the commenter)

man, im sorry but he is such a cocky guy, you can't help but want to play as him. I mean if I saw some guy running around like that with a cigar in his mouth the entire time I think I might turn the other way. Anyways gameplay looks fun, I always wanted a firefight mode in Halo and hopefully this makes it truly fun.
