Sins of a Solar Empire 'Diplomacy' beta begins fall, releases winter 2010
The second micro-expansion for PC sleeper hit Sins of a Solar Empire will release in winter 2010. The Diplomacy add-on will increase the number of ambassadorial options to players in their conquest of the galaxy. You know, sometimes it helps to talk through the issues. Ironclad and Stardock plan to have a beta for the expansion this fall in order to work out any Vasarian bugs.
Entrenchment and Diplomacy have both suffered delays while jumping into the digital distribution galaxy. A third micro-expansion for Sins was previously announced, so the full 4X RTS space opera experience should be completed sometime next year -- unless there are more delays, of course.

Just when i was about to uninstall this game for ahwile, maybe i'll check this out before i give up on ruling the universe.

Judging by the screen caps, the diplomatic process doesn't have a bright future.

I loved this game at first but then it really got old fast...the lack of a campaign did NOT help at all.

That's a common complaint with modern RTS' (Supreme Commander comes to mind...) - devs seem to throw a load of good ideas together without seeing how quickly they get dull.

Winter 2010? Don't you mean Winter 2009?

Well winter can mean January, 2010...

I wouldn't call it a hit, sleeper or otherwise.
It was a game that sold based on the reputation of its developers, and didn't deliver much (and what it did deliver wasn't half as good as the homeworld series ressurection people were hoping for)

SoSE cost less than a million to make and has sold over 500,000 copies. The reviews for the game are by and large positive. While diehard Homeworld fanboys are no doubt disappointed the rest of the planet thinks the game is a hit.

I think the reviews were mostly biased from their "Gamer's Bill of Rights" and not really based on the merits of the game. For one thing, they still refer to it as a "4x game" and not "a mediocre Warcraft 3 clone with an outer space skin."
Last I checked, 4x games didn't have tech-trees small enough to fit on an index card. If Sins is a 4x game, it's missing two and a half x's.
It really was the game that cemented for me that reviewers are completely untrustworthy.

It took THIS long to resort to diplomacy?!

Sins is such a flipping amazing game, I can't wait for this expansion. Maybe the third expansion will be a campaign mode, or maybe a new race though I doubt that.
