Unannounced 'Pinnacle Station' Mass Effect DLC now available
As we all know, the first and second rules of Fight Club are that you do not talk about Fight Club. Appropriately, Microsoft and BioWare haven't talked much about their Palahniuk-inspired Mass Effect DLC, Pinnacle Station; despite the fact that it hasn't even been formally announced, it's now available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 400
($5).According to the DLC's online description, Pinnacle Station will force you to "test the limits of your combat prowess aboard a remote, top-secret Alliance space station," brawling through 13 new "combat scenarios," and adding 2 to 3 hours of play time to the soon-to-be-sequeled space opera. We plan on picking it up ASAP, if only to see if Meat Loaf and spliced-in images of genitalia make an appearance. (We're thinking no.)

Its about fucking time. I love this game, and was really getting tired of waiting for this to come out. Especially after the tweet during E3.
Just added it to my downloads, and starting it up in a bit.
Rhamsey @ Aug 25th 2009 12:37PM
So I just beat the dlc, and its fun, but not really worth it unless you are planning on playing through the game a couple extra times.
Demaar @ Aug 26th 2009 1:22AM
Er, it's 5 bucks. I've seen far less substantial DLC priced higher than that.
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 25th 2009 10:05AM
Yeah I signed on to get the new rock band songs, and I saw the ad for this on the spotlight section or whatever. Very good early morning surprise, and will keep me busy until I can go get Batman later this afternoon.
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 25th 2009 10:58AM
Wooow this DLC is really bad. They said it was going to be an arena...it's just a bunch of VR capture/survival/time trial missions. Pathetic.
Ryan @ Aug 25th 2009 11:03AM
I guess keeping it unreleased wasn't an option to spare embarrassment.

Any word on the PC version??
Damian @ Aug 25th 2009 10:09AM
Any word on ANY version?
Veotax @ Aug 25th 2009 10:20AM
You're kidding, right?
The patch they announced back in January as "coming soon" only came out YESTERDAY!
I don't think Bioware considers PC support to be a priority.
Arkanti (formerly Ihavepants) @ Aug 25th 2009 10:39AM
At least Mass Effect 2 PC is coming out the same time as Xbawx.
Nerdy Desi @ Aug 25th 2009 11:19AM
That's good to hear the PC version is coming out the same time as the 360 version. The PC version of the first game came several months later but it had some extras like a new unlocking mini-game, new squad command system, etc.
I wonder if this time the PC version will use the same interface as the 360 version? I hope the PC will get the DLC too! : 0
iHavepants {SteamPSN: Arkanti} @ Aug 25th 2009 11:40AM
The UI and controls will be redesigned for PC like the originals were.
Nerdy Desi @ Aug 25th 2009 3:08PM
Yes, the new 1.02 patch is out and it fixes the Feros elevator glitch! I played the game for 9 hours and was stuck in that damn elevator and lost all my progress. I'm hoping when I get home, I can install this and I can continue my game, not have to start a new one!
Danny @ Aug 25th 2009 10:07AM
400 point DLC. Is it snowing in hell today?
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Aug 25th 2009 10:10AM
I love me some Fight Club references.
I am Jack's Colon.
Yeah. I get cancer. I kill Jack.
Also, WTF? How can they not announce this? Can't complain I guess. Between this and Batman, it's gonna be a busy night...
whylekat @ Aug 25th 2009 10:21AM
Does this DLC lead up to ME2 in anyway or is it another general add-on mission like Falling Sky or whatever it was called..
gabeldylan @ Aug 26th 2009 12:07AM
ThunderCats - HO!
uncle jesse @ Aug 25th 2009 10:26AM
What the what?!
I was not expecting this.
Dirty @ Aug 25th 2009 10:29AM
This is not a good time for this. I may want to do a fresh play through before the sequel comes out and I will get this then.
-=Flapjack=- @ Aug 25th 2009 10:32AM
The dlc is most likely going to be released on pc also.. cause the Mass Effect 1.02 patch was released!
MarkHawk @ Aug 25th 2009 10:35AM
What a crazy random happen stance...
Tehman @ Aug 25th 2009 10:38AM
Wow you win a retirement home when you beat all the combat scenarios....
A RETIREMENT HOME
Misframed @ Aug 25th 2009 10:43AM
Was this just sent out to die?
Feegore @ Aug 25th 2009 10:44AM
So...do I have to start a new file? or can I access it even if I beat the game??
dextro @ Aug 25th 2009 10:46AM
You need to have a save of the game when you're already a spectre and haven't entered the final mission yet.
Deezul @ Aug 25th 2009 10:45AM
Next week, EA/Bioware announce that Mass Effect never existed, and it was all in your mind. Existenz!
ShadowMonkey987 @ Aug 25th 2009 11:08AM
There's Even Avatar Item's Out For It...
Suprisingly the clothes actually are preety good..
Speacially the N7 Armour....
will pick the dlc up tomorrow when i get paid...
iHavepants {SteamPSN: Arkanti} @ Aug 25th 2009 11:20AM
You don't have 5 dollars now?
Snowblind @ Aug 25th 2009 11:23AM
I hate to support the price guaging, but the Normandy crew shirt was too awesome to pass up. Especially since I had leftover points from buying the content.
Dirty @ Aug 25th 2009 11:37AM
And that's how they got you snowblind. Clever Girl.
bioadam @ Aug 25th 2009 11:01AM
This DLC would have been relevant before I sold my copy of "Mass Effect" last year. Be like "Fallout 3", release DLC early, often, and in big chunks.
The_Punisher @ Aug 25th 2009 11:06AM
But opposed to Fallout 3, actually be fun.
bioadam @ Aug 25th 2009 12:07PM
nice
TheIcemanCometh @ Aug 25th 2009 11:04AM
This is not working for me - is anyone else having issues? I've downloaded it, but when I get to the menu, it says "New downloadable content available ..."
When at the Galaxy Map, I see no new space station like we do for Asteroid X57 for Bring Down the Sky.
I think there may be issues with this DLC - unless I'm missing something? I've deleted and downloaded twice now - same result.
Rocket Raccoon @ Aug 25th 2009 3:02PM
Same issue for me. It might be because I have ME saved to my harddrive.
Rocket Raccoon @ Aug 25th 2009 3:12PM
Nope, still doesn't work!
Rocket Raccoon @ Aug 25th 2009 3:14PM
Apparently you have to delete Bring Down The Sky first and then download and install Pinnacle station and then reinstall Bring Down The Sky (it might not work if you have the platinum version).
yo Naturale @ Aug 25th 2009 5:10PM
I'm having this same issue... no Pinnacle Station available in the Galaxy Map.
I tried deleting the Bring Down the Sky DLC, re-downloading the Pinnacle Station, then re-installing the Bring Down the Sky DLC off my Platinum Hits Bonus disc... and it still doesn't show up on my Galaxy Map.
For reference to others, my Mass Effect game isn't installed to my hard drive.
Rocket Raccoon @ Aug 25th 2009 11:02PM
You can't use the Platinum DLC you have to use the one bought from the store. Unless the patched it already.
TheIcemanCometh @ Aug 26th 2009 7:57AM
I have confirmed this. I deleted the Bring Down the Sky DLC, and I can now see the Pinnacle Station DLC in the list. BUT ... since the two characters I have played to this point have already done BDtS, I can't delete the BDtS DLC and play without it for those two (something about "missing content" when I try to load the save.) - and I'm not sure at this point if I want to start another character just to get that character to Spectre status.
This is so friggin' lame ...
TheIcemanCometh @ Aug 26th 2009 8:04AM
I just checked the Bioware forums, and they are aware of this issue, and they are looking at it (for what that's worth):

Misfit Toy @ Aug 25th 2009 11:11AM
Am I the only one scared to click on the Meat Loaf link?
Also...hurray for Mass Effect DLC!
goboColossus (LIVE, PSN - gobopop) @ Aug 25th 2009 11:35AM
I can't for the life of me complete the Time Trials with my infiltrator, I'm always 10 seconds or so too slow. Wanted to start a new game before ME2 came out anyways, I guess I'll play as a class with Assault Rifle training if I get desperate for the cheevos.
The DLC is horrible though, very disappointing. Combat being Mass Effect's biggest weak point, it seems a big mistake to make that the focus.
RedSonRising @ Aug 25th 2009 12:27PM
@goboColossus
exactly. i cant see combat focused dlc working very well. i enjoy the combat but its definitely the clunkiest part of the game.
Mr. Trauts @ Aug 25th 2009 12:32PM
How is Mass Effect's combat "weak?" It plays very similarly to Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter if not exactly the same... It was better than Fallout 3's combat anywase.
TheIcemanCometh @ Aug 25th 2009 12:42PM
How do you access the DLC in the game? I can find out how to get to the station ...
TheIcemanCometh @ Aug 25th 2009 12:43PM
CAN'T find out how to get to the station, that should say
goboColossus (LIVE, PSN - gobopop) @ Aug 25th 2009 1:16PM
Iceman, I believe it was in the Argos Rho cluster. You should see "Pinnacle Station" clearly labeled on the galaxy map in the Normandy. Just keep following the label until you reach the solar system, the station is floating in the outer-most asteroid belt.
TheIcemanCometh @ Aug 25th 2009 1:37PM
@goboColossus
I will have to try that later, but I wasn't seeing it this morning. As I mentioned above, I DO see the Asteroid X57 for BDtS, but nothing over there. Maybe I'll just head to the system anyway - maybe the labelling is buggy. Thanks.
RedSonRising @ Aug 25th 2009 1:54PM
@Mr. Trauts
if you dont play as soldier (weapons based) class and rely mostly on biotics and tech abilities the game is very fun. however, playing thru as a sniper and soldier is a chore for me..
