After being the first major retailer to release info on the PS3 Slim before Sony itself had announced the system, Amazon Germany is at it again, outing a 250GB Xbox 360 model for 280 euros ($379). An eagle-eyed Engadget tipster spotted the listing, which includes two wireless controllers and a copy of Forza Motorsport 3 in addition to the massively embiggened hard drive.
Since Forza 3 won't be hitting shelves until October 23 in Europe, it stands to reason that this listing represents a deal still a few months off, though Microsoft could very feasibly release this new SKU (sans accessories) earlier. On the subject of new Xbox bundles, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg told us in an interview yesterday that, "I'm sure there will be different offers depending on where you go and what time of the year it is." Looks like we've found at least one bundle so far! We've contacted Microsoft for comment and will update this post when we know more.

WHAT? The interviewer couldn't at least hint at this? If this is true, this has to be one of the best, if not THE best Xbox 360 SKU this year. :O!!!
It's about 399.00 to anyone wondering.

Edit* Lost my head for a second, forgot that he DID kinda hint, but nothing about a bigger harddrive. This HAS to be a drop in HD prices if this is true. No one will pay for a 120gb HD @ 160$ when the 250gb one will probably be pretty close in price.
Please Microsoft?

I just went out and bought a hard drive upgrade for my PS3 today, 500GB, cost $99. On a completely on-topic note, this a darn good deal (if it's actually $399.)

Don't try to convert euros into dollars, it doesn't work that way in the gaming industry. The Wii and the PS3 are 250 euros and 300 euros (after price drop) respectively now for example, so if this bundle would go to the USA it'd be 280 dollars. Yep, we Europeans always take it in the ass.

When your competition drops the price of their product, it doesn't seem like the greatest idea to launch a new product at (about) the competition's old price point. I'm no business major though, so...if it makes sense to you, please explain.
Then, when you consider that you can buy a PS3 and a 500 GB hard drive for that price...huh?
Additionally, if you don't already own a 360 by now, you probably weren't waiting for a price INCREASE to pick one up. Why would you do this?

Okay, I'm fine with the downvote, but still no one has explained why this is a good business move. The MAIN complaint with the PS3 was that it was too expensive. So, when the PS3 comes down to a reasonable price, MS puts together a system to take the PS3's old place as the most expensive console. Sorry. I don't get it.

Odd....I would have figured the 250gb drive would have cost that much by itself knowing MS.

They should have lowered the Elite to $199, killed off the arcade and made this SKU for $299. Instant boner kill to sony.

Cause the arcade is (or was) probably the only way MS was making money off the 360, while at the same extending their lead over Sony. They really took off after that last price cut.

With the price of HDDs these days, MS could have made a bundle by going that route. Without wifi (and the wifi adapter being $100), no blu ray, same hdd, $50 a year for online play, how is MS going to compete this Christmas?
Oh...
Halo -_-
That's right. Sony's boned.

Honestly, that would make much more sense. MS says they're going to keep just 2 SKU's, because they don't want sales to decrease if they flat out announce a SKU that won't come out until October.
$399 for all of that?
MSRP would be:
$199.99 for console
$99.98 for two controllers
$59.99 for Forza 3
$199.99 for HDD (knowing how MS prices their HDD's
All totaled, with tax, would amount to $593.54.
That will save you $213.95.
Enough to get an iPhone!

if the arcade model is gone then how will MS sell HDD, thats why sony made them STANDARD, if the elite was the new arcade even with a 60 gig drive then how would they sell 60 gigs HDDs at stores? as back ups?
i can't fathom the thought of having to buy a whole console system for back up. horrible service

Without the Arcade SKU, how would we replace our out-of-warranty RRODs? :o

What Josh said.
Seriously.
They should actually call it the "replacement" model instead of the "arcade."

Please make the 250gb hdd make other prices lower.
I've always wanted to upgrade from 20gb, but it doesn't make sense when I can buy 2 games+(2 for 60gb, probably 3 for 120gb) for the price of their hdds.

I know, I;m stuck with the 20gb and it has told me Memory Full enough times! I m sick of it. I can only have 1 demo because I have lots of arcade games and lots of RBDLC. I have a feeling that they will charge around $100 for this one(still a bit high, but an improvement) and bring down the 120 to around 40 bucks(The price of a normal 120gb HDD)

Every time a new game comes out i have to delete an old one even though i still play it. I suppose I can be thankful the drm will allow me to redownload.

The only thing I like about the Elites are the color scheme, and even now I can get the custom airbrush guy in the mall to do that for $50. I've already X-Clamped my 360 and put in a BenQ drive so it's truly an "Elite".
If Microsoft want's to stay on top they need to put something into the $299 Elite Bundle to throw Sony of it's high horse.
I've even thought about getting a PS3 Slim now because of how affordable it is.

We definitely need to see a price cut for these HDD's.
Games like Forza require an install to access a lot of the content, and we've seen a massive focus on downloadable games like Shadow Complex and DLC expansions for GTA and Fallout, etc. The 20gb just doesn't cut it anymore, but they're far too expensive for me to buy a new one.
Even simply halfing the price of the 120gb one, and bringing this 250gb one in at it's old price would make me happy.

Don't forget about WI-FI adapter. I don't see why not made it internal or bundle it.
