North American PS3 Slim ad campaign 'Does Everything'

While definitely not as unsettling as the Japanese "Play Face" advertising campaign, or as costly as the £82 million European marketing push, the recently revealed PS3 Slim ad campaign for North America possesses something unique for the world of video game promotion -- actual humor. PlayStation.Blog revealed the first two television spots for the western hemisphere's "It Only Does Everything" campaign. The first, featuring a startling Jonah Hill lookalike, is posted above. The second is embedded after the jump.
We'd like to extend a big round of applause to Sony's marketing team. Congrats guys! You've finally managed to market Sony's gaming hardware in a manner that makes a freaking lick of sense.

Can you say "hitting their stride?" Since they announced the price cut, Sony's just been off to the races. Even the general attitude towards PS3 has done a complete 180 around here. It's actually...kinda...weird. It's like I have no one to bait any more.

Trust me, there are still idiotic fanboys out there. Just yesterday someone was spouting off Xbox 360 exclusives for the holiday season. He said Halo: ODST, Left 4 dead 2, forza 3, and GTA IV ballad of gay Tony. I simply said that two were add ons. Then he told me to name some PS3 exclusives, so I did, Uncharted, GOW III, GT 5, Ratchet and clank, MAG, and heavy rain. Here is what he said
"Uncharted is gears rip-off"
"ninja blade>GOW" he actually said that
"Forza will kill GT5"
"Heavy rain is QTE"
"MAG sucks"
"Ratchet and clank is a kids game"
So, you see the dumb ones are still out there.

@Traceur: Okay, just a couple of issues with your statement. You said Holiday Season, last time I check, GOWIII, MAG, and Heavy Rain were all next year. I could be wrong, but I'm almost certain. So by that logic 360 would also get to include Alan Wake and Fable III.
Secondly ODST is less of an add-on and more of a full game now. Thus the $60 retail price. And Ballad of Gay Tony is an add-on, but Lost and Damned added a TON of gameplay, and was longer a lot of action games. Plus it's cheaper than a full retail, so it'll probably be a good deal.
That being said, I'm thinking of getting a PS3 myself soon.

Well ja, but if your reply to a damned good slate of games is to dis each and everyone one of them then I think you have a little leeway to call them a fanboy. The term is overused, but I'm pretty sure at least one or two PS3 exclusives deserve some praise from the opposition.

@borland: I read through your comment and I didn't quite understand what you were getting at.
I wasn't implying that Traceur had blind fanaticism, if that's what you thought. I was just bringing up a few points in his argument. And yes, if someone said Ninja Blade was better than GOWIII, then he is either a super fanboy or just an awesome troll that doesn't care about his self respect.
And I'm a PC/360 gamer, but I play some PS3 games on my roommates system. And I was saying that no matter what system you own, you should see that the opposing system has good games that you might be interested. Infamous is a great game, and I'm looking forward to Uncharted 2. (I should note that up through my 9th grade year of High School, I was a fanboy for the PS2 and Sony :P)

I never dismissed any 360 exclusives except saying that they were add ons. Which is technically true. I actually own a 360, I only use it for Fable though.

And I don't have a desire to play any of those new PS3 exclusives. I own all 3 consoles and I've only bought two games for my PS3 (Little Big Planet and Valkyria Chronicles). The 360 isn't doing much better. It probably gets more love only because I can play DDR on it. But the Wii has exactly what I'm looking for. New Super Mario Bros., Wii Fit +, Mario Galaxy 2, etc...
I wish these game companies will give me more of what I'm looking for. It certainly isn't boring M rated and/or sports games.

can you say a "a few years too late"?. Still, gotta admit as a PC / 360 gamer, the bluray + internet browser on a TV side of things is a little compelling. It's just that, it's still not compelling enough when i already have everything else the ps3 does in a better form.

Besides, this is the first legitimately good PS3 commercial for Sony I've heard about. It's like reminding the Special Olympics kid that's he's not really an athlete after he wins the gold. Sometimes you have to let the self-esteem circle jerk proceed as it may.
