While definitely not as unsettling as the Japanese "Play Face" advertising campaign, or as costly as the £82 million European marketing push, the recently revealed PS3 Slim ad campaign for North America possesses something unique for the world of video game promotion -- actual humor. PlayStation.Blog revealed the first two television spots for the western hemisphere's "It Only Does Everything" campaign. The first, featuring a startling Jonah Hill lookalike, is posted above. The second is embedded after the jump.
We'd like to extend a big round of applause to Sony's marketing team. Congrats guys! You've finally managed to market Sony's gaming hardware in a manner that makes a freaking lick of sense.

I wasn't a cheap ass... and no im not rich.. i spent rent on it.

ps: your ps3 can read cards, it has usb ports.. buy a card reader cheapskate.

On the Second Ad they miss the part of "You don't have to pay 50 bucks a year to play online"... or "is free to get you online games" but, maybe its was too directly to Xbox people :P

If they knew anything or had been around here long enough, they would know I'm not anti-Sony, anti-Nintendo or anti-Microsoft. I love the new Sony ads, I think they're brilliant. PS2's will play them and you can get a perfectly working used one for under $50. Funny how people bitch about PS2 support but yet MS has never ever really bothered with BC on 360 don't see many complain about that

Great job on your marketing. Suggestion though. The Japanese ads were great. Have your writers and directors skim through Youtube and look up SEGA Genesis ads, SEGA Saturn Ads and SEGA Dreamcast Ads. You're tailoring to the Teenage, young adult crowds, yes? SEGA can give ya some good tips. (The old SEGA, not Sammy.) Plus, a blast to the past is always pretty damn cool!
