The Ballad of Gay Tony gets its first trailer this Tuesday

Notorious for not saying much about the GTA series until the very last minute, Rockstar Games stuck to form today in announcing the first trailer for upcoming GTA IV expansion The Ballad of Gay Tony. According to the company's website, a trailer for Episodes from Liberty City will be released this Tuesday, "featuring The Ballad of Gay Tony."

The only images we've seen so far from the DLC haven't been much more than loading screen art, and now the shot above of what looks to be Luis jumping out of a plane. Wait, jumping out of a plane? There were no planes in GTA IV! What is this madness?!

It's not a plane. It's a heli. You can see the rotors at the top, if you look carefully.

I dunno man, all weapons and full health, spawn helicopter cheats are pretty fucking fun when you have unlimited amounts of cops cars and police to blow up with your RPG.

Cause Fallout 3 IS fun. GTA 4 is boring as hell. Go here, do 1 of 2 different types of missions with no exciting or crazy moments in them. Maybe it's fun if it was your first GTA, but after playing san andreas it was a borefest.

I agree %100 with tmac. It's like they took everything that used to be fun in GTA and turned it into a linear mess. And it's too serious, I miss the "silliness" of previous games. San Andreas was really the peak of GTA.

Wait. What are the exciting/crazy moments in Fallout 3? Go here (by the way, you have to walk for-fucking-ever), kill someone or don't, come back. Repeat for 100 hours.
Don't get me wrong, I like that formula and I like Fallout 3, but implying that it's more inventive than GTA 4 as far as mission structure is concerned is just not true.

For me, it was partly the controls (That's not all, mind you). I don't like the "realistic" controls for GTA. That isn't what made the series fun.

Another reason is that there just wasn't that much content. Sure the main missions were good, but it didn't leave enough content to mess around. I have like 40 hours on GTA IV, after I beat it I got bored with it within 2 days. However I still play San Andreas on occasion. Not to mention I really love the humor of San Andreas.

Now that I think of it, I liked the missions better too. More variety.

Yea, "tmac", what's so much more "fun" about Fallout 3 than GTAIV? I just don't get that one. Just say you personally like Fallout 3 more than GTAIV, get me? DON'T make such a hard line statement.

Anyway, PERSONALLY, I LOVE GTAIV and HATE the fact that Rockstar is wasting their numbers on making the DLC exclusive to MS. I bet they won't do nothing stupid like that again.
This is my theory on the reason why GTAIV is so "loathed" by so many young people - It's TOO mature for them and usually when we are young, we can't appreciate things like that. GTAIV is a masterpiece, imo, and for a more mature cat like myself (dig my leather pants, yo! LOL!), I don't need EVERY GAME to be wild and out of control fun like so many sound like they needed from GTAIV but didn't get. "It's missing the craziness of San Andreas" pretty much sums up what A LOT of yungins have posted about the game since the thing came out .

Now, where I was going with my point about being young and not appreciating a well done masterpiece (imo, remember) like GTAIV is that the 360 demographic actually leans more toward more young heads where as more older cats, more so, get PS3s. Game Informer had a pie chart or sumthin of a poll they conducted. Ironically, that's something I had already felt before seeing that poll but that definitely does not blanket every one because I know older heads with 360s.
I, myself, went with a PS3, which went against the grain of EVERYONE I knew with a next gen system...which was a 360.

Anywayz, did u do the math on what I said, already? Well, if u haven't, the bottomline is that Rockstar effed up because they did NOT do well with the first DLC (actually, no hard proof but it's been suspected by gaming analysts AND Rockstar REFUSES to release the hard numbers, EVER, taking a defensive, bitch like stance on that. Dude from Rockstar actually said that, and why? BECAUSE THEY ARE ANGRY!! He didn't say that part but u get the point from the interview dude gave. Lol) because too many young cats have 360s and couldn't relate to GTAIV where as if they released it for the PS3, too, they may have had comparable units "moved" even thought the 360, technically, has "sold" more units than the PS3, globally. Why? Because the "older" heads tend to lean toward the PS3. Get it? They woulda got a better return but now they are STUCK in sucky contract with MS.

All that said, I'm MAD that the PS3 isn't getting this DLC. Maybe there is a clause in the contract that once it's done, they can hand the DLC over to Sony? I hope so. I still wanna play this.

Oh, tmac, I do actually like Fallout 3...a lot. I don't know if it's necessarily more "fun" than GTAIV but I do have a great deal of admiration for it.
It's definitely a deeper game than GTA. Bethesda KNOWS how to make a RPG. I actually JUST rented it last week to play it for the very first time. I already took it back but it's on my backburner. I have Elder Scrolls IV for the PS3 and all I can think of is how much that game sucked me in. My character is at level 20 or 21 but I haven't played it in a while because it burned me the heck out and then my PS3 went on me last year then I had to start from scratch (I was at level 4 or 5, then) cuz I couldn't back up my HDD and didn't have a clue that I could keep it without returning it wiped out...then I started all over again.
Basically, playing a Bethesda RPG is like having a full time job!! Funny thing is that as "high" as my level is in Oblivion, I have BARELY even touched the main mission of getting to Oblivion.

Well as long as the content remains of the same the same, it could get better: it could be on other platforms as well. Why exactly do people think exclusive games help the consumer? Barring crappy ports, there's not really any reason to dislike multiplat games.

Hopefully the gameplay will resemble Saints Row 2 more. GTA4 + Saint's Row 2 gameplay = win. I passed on SR2 for the bigger franchise gta4, not expecting much, I tried SR2 and i'm hooked. The game is much much better than GTA4, plain and simple. It's not as nice looking in the presentation or audio, but the gameplay is solid. Hopefully this DLC will mimic that SR2 experience.

I disagree. The Euphoria engine is what makes GTA4 amazing along with the Liberty City architecture. The city's got more character than saints row 2.

Don't hold your breath. GTA4 gameplay is awesome. Even Volition (developers of SR) stated that Saints Row 3 will go in a "different direction". My guess is in a more realistic one. I could be wrong.

I loved SR1. Was really fun. Then I got hooked to GTA4. Now i can't go back to SR2.
I cant stand the driving mechanics in SR. The only thing I find myself constantly doing in SR2 is modifying cars.

It does have better story, characters, presentation, and city...but too bad most people don't play GTA games for any of that.

GTA 4 engine (including euphoria), with Saints Row 2's gameplay please. It would basically be a modern San Andreas.

You are, I promise. That would be game development suicide if they tried to go down the dark depressing road of GTA4.
