Nice choice. I still don't have much interest in the game itself, but Tim Curry is typically the only logical choice for an eccentric evil character.

A Monkey Island style remake would be perfect! I think I would wait for the iphone version of this one though - I bought monkey island for xbla and couldn't get past the part with the melting mugs because of the akwardness of using a gamepad.

Does anyone get the feeling that this game is Bioware's "jump the shark" moment?

Graphically it doesn't look up to par to games like Mass Effect and adjusted for last generation Kotor. Hell even their new Star Wars MMORPG looks better than it. They are blowing chunks on their budget on celebrity voice acting, and it just doesn't have that Bioware polish it seems like. I dont remember them working on so many projects at the same time before, ever since they have been acquired by EA they have like 3 projects going on at once.

I simply think Bioware's weaknesses are coming through. They did a wonderful job perfecting the open choice western RPG, but that's all they can do, and even that is becoming stale. I don't expect a lot of good or innovation from them for a few years. Much like Rare, they had their limelight and it's unlikely they'll make heads turn again.

Jump the shark? I see this as Bioware returning to their roots. In the early days they were all about epic fantasy stories, not fancy graphics (though they have always had good voice acting). I haven't been this excited about a Bioware game since Baldur's Gate II.

It's Bioware. I have faith. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2 or The Old Republic. So I definitely have a "wait and see" attitude on this game. It may not be their best, but I doubt it'll be bad.

I agree with kevadu. It is a return to form. back in the day it was all about story and quirky character and turn base combat. mass effect felt like the jumping the shark moment. the side quests were fail and the enviroments were stale the characters were the least interesting of the bunch. seriously http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic
just shows how much there is in the conversations comparitively.

I played a bit of dragon age at comic con the story is engrossing the dialog is back and the combat is decent. marketing for this game is huge fail though the ads don't give it any justice.

I always feel bad that Tim Curry is, without fail, the villain. In everything he's in. Like Alan Rickman.

No Tim Curry for GK2 was definately it's biggest problem IMHO, though the FMV instead of hand drawn backgrounds is a close second.

FMV was all the rage back then, I don't mind it in cutscenes these days but encorporating it into gameplay is not a great idea.

The 3d model for Gabriel Knight in the 3rd game was horrendous though, FMV would have almost been better:

Hopefully this will actually post as a reply, I'm hitting the reply button but it's only working half the time.

Anyway, yeah - you are definitely right about the 3D in GK3, maybe we get a remake on that one ala Serious Sam HD :)
