I don't really see anything wrong with MS adding additional value to the Gold membership without increasing the price.

I use Twitter all the time to talk to my friends. It's pretty useful for that.

I don't have Gold, and you know what? I don't give a care about this. This only thing I want is to play against my friends. If as people say, the money for Gold is going to pay for Netflix or Facebook or something, then stop trying to charge me money and let me play against my friends for free using Silver.

That's the only thing they need to make free for Silver members (online play), everything else can stay on Gold for all I care.

Just think of the new features (facebook, twitter, last.fm) as incentives to 'jump in' and pay subscription for gold. The thing with live is that it is actually worth paying for, well, not for how much they're asking, but worth paying for. I mean you can still get discounted 13 month cards onilne for half the price so its not that bad. you got 25-30 dorra right?

not sure why im surprised... i stupidly pay monthly for the gold membership (what like 7 bucks a month rather than 50 bucks a year?) but cant really complain one way or another. Although i can agree with other people and say... if you already have internet access (which is how youre probably reading this... and playing XBL) than you probably have a gold account so it shouldnt matter anyways... and if you dont have a gold account... and youre reading this... you can still get facebook and twitter for free on a PC, or your PS3, or your iPhone, or your PSP... or any number of free methods (provided you have some sort of internet connection... even if youre stealing wifi from your 60 year old neighbor.)

who doesnt have a gold membership anyways? people who DONT use online functions... thats who... so they dont care about facebook and twitter anyways...

hell... does ANYONE here use facebook or twitter? i didnt think so.

I have no problem paying for Gold. I think it's good it separates serious gamers from the not so serious gamers. Also it limits gamers to one gamertag or how many tags they want to pay for. I have friends on PSN with 2,3, or more gamertags which is bothersome. I would ask "why they haven't been online". "Oh I changed my gamertag". (-_-) Playstation online is dull and boring as well.

I love it how everyone jumps on MS for charging money for "everything" like it is some new devious strategy that only they implement. Look, every company wants to make money and some go about it different ways that may or may not float your boat. MS charges a month fee. So what? The service is great. PSN users feel that they magically get this same service for free, right? Well you do know that third party developers have to cover the cost of server maintenance fees for there games that are on the PSN. SO, if said developer is not having such a great year money wise, that they honestly can pull those servers away and poof, that online game is no longer playable. Has this happened? No, but the point is, the fee is there, it is just not paid by the consumer.

Personally, I'm a fan of both systems because I love to game and find great games on both systems that I love.

A word of warning though, Sony is not as innocent as everyone thinks. Check this link out below and find out how Capcom, with the popularity of the RE5 demo, would now be charged close to $200,000 to release a demo. That's right, a fee to release a demo over PSN for bandwidth that no other company institutes.

I don't know if it's going to happen or not but I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen as Microsoft will charge extra for things that are free to everyone else such as...

- Last FM
- Twitter
- Facebook
- Online Gaming

Now all of these things are available to the PC,PS3 & even to some extent on the Wii for free yet everyone that pay's for XBL is OK with this. Microsoft Charges for DLC that is free for the PC sometimes and yea people complain but they still pay. We as gamers are allowing this to happen by paying for these things. If we don't stop this now other companies may follow Microsoft's lead and it is a bad example if you ask me.

Also I know that XBL allows for Cross Game Chat & Cross Game Invites which will eventually come to the PS3 & will still be free unless Microsoft has somehow patented it and if that's the case that sucks. I am glad Microsoft isn't in charge of the Air we breath because if they did I am sure they would charge for that too.

i just wish that ONLINE GAMING would be available for silver memberships, but hey that's the reason why people buy gold memberships :P. ill bet that if online gaming was for silver members too, no one would buy gold.
