Eurogamer reports that Fable II: Game of the Year Edition has been confirmed by Microsoft. Furthermore, the site notes that the title will release in Europe on September 18 for €64.99/£39.99. Doing a little digging of our own, we uncovered the box art for the game (pictured above), which gives us some idea of what to expect in the package. According to the box, purchasers will receive: "More Quests! More Locations! More Choices!"
If previous retail listings for the title are to be believed, all that "more" will be comprised of both the Knothole Island and See the Future DLC packs. So far, the Game of the Year Edition has only been confirmed for Europe, but we've contacted Microsoft for confirmation and details regarding a North American release.

Too many GOTY editions. The actual products are fine, but how many can there be? One. The answer is one. Wasn't LBP the slam-dunk conscensous winner for GOTY? Yeah it's not a 360 game, but they have Gears 2 to slap the GOTY title on if they want too. But Gears 2 should have an asterix in the title to indicate that LBP was in fact real the GOTY. And if the criteria for being GOTY is the amount of awards said game has garnered for.....GOTY, then LBP is GOTY. GOTY!

what? where did LBP get a game of the year nod?
i'm not commenting on whether or not it deserves (haven't played it), but i've never seen anyone give it game of the year. i know for a fact that with fallout 3 and fable 2, they've both received at LEAST 2 GotY nods from prominent gaming outlets.

Why can't each console have it's own GOTY? Heck, why can't each developer have their own GOTY? Besides, I'm pretty sure Left 4 Dead was GOTY last year (at least in some part of the world).

those exist, they're known as console game of the year, or some very similar name depending on who is giving out the award.
but those are generally considered second place compared to game of the year.

nevermind, wikipedia answered my question. apparently gamepro and edge gave it a GotY nod. sorry, but that's far from slam-dunk consensus.
only game that deserves game of the year so far is fallout 3, that did universally well on both platform and got more nods than both fable II and LBP

You didn't answer it quite enough. :) Wikipedia says that LBP got GOTY nods from Edge, Gamepro, Edge and the AIAS Interactive Achievement Awards for Best Console Game and Best Overall Game. Solid, but not as many as I thought.

haha, you said edge twice. but i only included gamepro and edge because....i don't think anyone knows what the hell AIAS is. might be just me though.
but yeah, basic idea is that both fable II and LBP (and plenty of other games i'm sure) got some GotY nods, sold well, were reviewed well, but to say that either of the games represents the hand-down best gaming experience of the year, and to have this agreed upon by a significant number of people? kind of a stretch for both, in my opinion.

I did say Edge twice! The second Edge is supposed to be Eurogamer. I'm an idiot.

Why not call it something more interesting? Think of TFU, it's getting "Ultimate Sith" instead of "Game of the Year", and that sounds alot more attracting. There are a liiiiittle too many GOTY's now, amaright?

Shit! I just bought like 15 minutes ago Fable II and now I read Joystiq and a new version with the expansions will come out.
That makes me a sad panda.

Funny that we were all just joking about this the other day.

Really enjoyed the first and would love to see the 2nd come to PC. I'm not interested in playing it in lower-def and with the frame-rate issues reviewers talked about on the 360 version.
