Slick Entertainment has one of the best Xbox Live Games on its resume, having collaborated on N+ with Metanet Software. That's why we'll be watching the developer's new game, Scrap Metal, so closely! Scrap Metal for Xbox Live Arcade is a top-down racing game reminiscent of Super Off Roador Rock 'n Roll Racing, except, of course, with a modern physics engine.
Scrap Metal features combat racing against not only your friends in local and online multiplayer, but "track bosses," plus the game includes various missions, as well. It'll be shown off at PAX -- possibly in 3-D! -- and is expected out on XBLA sometime next year.
LOL. Very cool. I'd like to know a little bit more about it but it looks like a lot of fun. With the right kind of music it should make for a great XBLA title.
The guy on the left was great. First throwing up the horns and then his shirt mysteriously changing at the end of the video....
Oh or that 1st gen Xbox360 combat racer that had no story and some dumb rewind feature. Geez what was it called?? You can buy it at gamestop for like $4 now.
full auto i'm pretty sure is what you're talking about whylekat. theres full auto 2 for ps3 exclusively now, but I doubt its any better than the 1st one
this is exactly what i thought when i saw the video. i remember receiving a copy of combat cars in my stocking on christmas day. i played that game almost every day for a couple months. turned out to be one of my favorite sega genesis games. hopefully they can capture some of the combat cars magic in scrap metal.
This is a day 1 purchase for me. I have been waiting for a good top down racer to be released on the 360. If its as fun as Mashed was for the original xbox I will be happy.
You read my freaking mind JC. I LOVE Super Off Road. As soon as i saw the game play i instantly thought of it. Wish i owned the arcade cab. That would be amazing.
you're all downvoting Look at this Suit? for chrissakes he's 100% right, the original commenter just regurgitated the microsoft slogan. i own a 360 and even i think he's been brainwashed.
Adding video of them, instead of just the game, was a bad choice in my opinion. It makes the video look amateurish, almost XNA-ish. The game itself is promising, though.
This looks really neat, but one thing that always annoyed me with racing games using this perspective is that your vehicle always handles the same. The car turns too sharp, the controls are extra sensitive, and trying to straighten out feels like you are doing so on ice.
Looks like it could be pretty fun. If it has a demolition derby style mode, I'm totally sold. It looks like it already has collision damage in it so it should be dirt simple to set up the mode and throw together an area or two.
The first thing I thought when I saw this was: "Blast Corps + Twisted Metal". Blast corps was fun, they should bring it back on the VC at least. I might buy this XBLA game though...
