Okay first regarding the TI/Jeezy comments...they are what's hot now. I'm not a fan of Jeezy personally but TI is a pretty good lyricist. It's the same reason Rock Band would highlight Kings of Leon or other new acts before Boston or Bon Jovi.

That being said...what is the friggin' point? I thought it was another entry in their fighting series, but a music game for rap? Where's the challenge? Now if you had combined it with a turntable game (a la DJ Hero), I'd see the point. but a stand alone rapping game has no appeal to me.

"The South has been THE go to place for any relevent rap artist inthe game today since like 2000."

The south is a specific place now?

Anyway, whatever. Black people make white people buy useless crap because it's cool.

So about the game.. basically you pretend to "rap" along to these "songs" right?

It's like watching MTV back in 1999, only the words show up on the screen!

lol... useless.... u serious?

look at music history, almost every bit of musical innovation was a result of black people....

Blues, Rock, Techno, Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, R&B, Jazz, Swing......

unless of course you're into Country... that's still pretty white last time i checked....

no, old white people in suits turn shitty crap cool so it'll turn 'em a profit.

check any genre's mainstream representation, you'll see what I'm saying. music isn't art anymore, it's a business, and what hip hop has become in the eyes of the youth and the folks in charge of record labels is the greatest proof of that there is.

Didn't country largely come from the Blues?

Duke,

couldn't be further from the truth. I have zero interest in this game, or any music game for that matter.

In the words of the great RZA, how the F*ck is hip hop/rap dead when Wu-Tang is Forever? And to all those hating on Jeezy, I use to do the same and then I started listening to what he had to say and now he's one of my favorite artist. His mixtape "Trappin Aint Dead" is better than any album released in stores this year. Another point for all of you naming those underground groups, get off of it. No one would by the game if it was filled with those artist, and I wouldn't blame them, I've seen those artist you've named in concert and wasn't impressed at the least. Big wup for Joystiq name dropping Biggie, he's not better than 2Pac and never was. I like the track T.R.O.Y. and all too, but get real if the box art stated featuring the Pete Rock & CL Smooth hit T.R.O.Y., how many any the market that this game is for would even know who they were? This game if for younger follower of the hip-hop movement, older rap fans aren't trying to play sing along with their favorite artist, a real fan would try to create their own rhymes

I think Cody is one of the only guys on here really in the know about hip hop. Real gamers listen to true "hip-hop?" Get that garbage outta here. Young Jeezy and TI released some of the most memorable rap albums of the last few years. Has anyone blindly hating ever listened to Thug Motivation 101 or any of T.I.P.'s stuff besides his radio hits? Like Cody said, it's not always what is written on paper, but it's how the words are delivered. Hell, if you wrote down 90% of Supreme Clientele you wouldn't have a god damn clue as to what Ghost was thinking and that is a top 20 album of the last decade. I like my classic rap as well, but some people should learn to evolve.

The reason Notorious B.I.G is not in the game is probably because of publishing which belongs to Bad Boy Records(Puffy) which is a subsidiary of WMG. And Pete Rock & CL Smooth are not present because, if you ask any random teenager who listens to Hip-Op even if they listen to Jay, Nas, and ATCQ, they most likely won't know who CL Smooth is. Maybe they'll know Pete Rock since he produced for Illmatic.

hey all you fools... this game will have 360 tracks spanning the history of hip hop and rap.. it will also have original beat tracks that you can lay down your own lyrics to and upload to the DEF JAM RAPSTAR website and youtube immediately.. DEF JAM will have scouts constantly looking at these sites looking to sign new artists to label deals.. this is unlike any music game ever to come out and will redefine the entier category. name any REAL hip hop artist and they will appear on this game. all ya all get a life and stop hatin; the best and most authentic thing to happen to gaming for the hip hop culture to date... your comments are a joke. cant wait till you choke on em.

360 tracks spanning 30 years of hip hop! plus tons of orignal beat tracks to lay down your own lyrics, film your own video, and upload to the world immediately.. DEF JAM will be scanning the Rapstar community looking for new talent to sign to their label. these comments you people are hatin with are a joke. get informed people, this game is going to be sick! it will re-define what a music game is all about - originality, talent, scouting, community... Def Jam MEANS hip hop and they are all over this game for their 25th year anniversary.. Ive read these posts, and if you do your research you will read that all the old school artists will be on this game plus all the new ones.. not just Def Jam artists either.. this is a must own. a MUST own!
