Even long after Bruce Willis has saved the universe, identified cheaters will still be unable to play Monster Hunter 3. At least that's the case for one Japanese player, who tried to connect online and was given a dismissive prompt (in Japanese; machine translation here), indicating that he'd been banned until December 12, 9999.
The message cited "modded data" as the cause for the banning, and while we can't confirm that there was any questionable data on the system, we will say that if you're looking to hunt monsters (possibly around early 2010), you may want to avoid the uber hax!!1! option. We'd hate for you to have to go on living a lootless life for the next couple thousand years.

Yeeah, I read about this. That is hardcore.
Fuck a Banhammer, this is more like a baNuke.
Did you know the producer of the game and his colleagues have clocked over 40 hours of this game already? And they made the bloody game...

I have the Homebrew Channel on my Wii, would that cause death and destruction?

Jesus...that's a good point...
I guess though technically if you import it, you're screwed, but otherwise it should be fine because you won't have to use the homebrew channel.

It is a fun function for a permaban. Now that guy needs to put his Wii with a copy of MH3 in a time capsule, so the future can dig it up in 10,000, and see if the prophecy comes true.

I always get a kick out of cheaters getting exactly what they deserve. Thanks for the laughs, Capcom.

Sounds more like a glitch then an actual ban. surely it would say a permanent ban rather than the year 9999.
