We still don't have a release date for the expansion or much more than a handful of screenshots, so we really hope you enjoy this box art until the first trailer hits tomorrow afternoon.

helicopter...check
hot chick that has nothing to do with the game...check
this passes the Rockstar GTA cover inspection
Look At This Suit @ Aug 31st 2009 4:01PM
That's a parachute.
PARACHUTE!
Snowblind @ Aug 31st 2009 4:11PM
The pictures they showed from the trailer going up tomorrow also showed Luis jumping out of a helicopter ;)
Look At This Suit @ Aug 31st 2009 4:34PM
Yeah, but they didn't show a parachute. I've jumped from a helicopter many times in GTA: IV without a parachute.
Snowblind @ Aug 31st 2009 4:57PM
I think it was an obvious hint though. Seems unlikely he'd do it in the story without a parachute, unless he dies at the end? :P
Obie @ Aug 31st 2009 5:32PM
"Dr. Jones! No more parachutes!"
ChiTownRuler23 @ Aug 31st 2009 8:52PM
Or maybe they are pulling off a Crank ending.
Jawmuncher @ Aug 31st 2009 4:05PM
This is a Standalone Disc Right?
So I don't need GTA IV on 360 to play this?
(I have GTAIV on PS3)
Space @ Aug 31st 2009 4:11PM
Is that right? Is this a standalone?
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Aug 31st 2009 4:13PM
all 3 are supposed to be released as a standalone....and when that Happens I will simply rent them.....cause like Jawmuncher I own GTA4 on PS3 as well
Snake Robot Podium @ Aug 31st 2009 4:18PM
Yes, they are stand-alone. You do not need the orignal GTAIV.

MLC (PSN: Myke-Myke & XBL: MLC45) @ Aug 31st 2009 4:29PM
Yeah, it is. The retail game comes out Oct 29. I can't wait!
Jawmuncher @ Aug 31st 2009 4:34PM
Oh Thank Goodness.
Didn't want to have to buy GTA again.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Aug 31st 2009 4:08PM
So it was 3 DLC packs for GTA4 that were Exclusive? I dunno why I was thinking 2...
Longhorn Slim @ Aug 31st 2009 4:19PM
no it was two, the third is rumored to be multi
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Aug 31st 2009 4:22PM
oh ok....cool
MrKlorox @ Aug 31st 2009 5:20PM
Huh? Where are you getting three from? I've only ever heard "two". However I have been expecting a third, multiplatform episode (continuing Niko's story)... I just didn't think they had announced or slipped any info about it. Would love confirmation.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Aug 31st 2009 5:52PM
rumors....
AnthonyGalindoX @ Aug 31st 2009 4:09PM
Hey someone from Joystiq, can you ask Rockstar if this will have a thousand achievement points.
Snake Robot Podium @ Aug 31st 2009 4:21PM
I want to know too. If so I would feel kinda by having gone the DLC route. If I had known about this I might have waited, since I measure my life's worth through my Gamerscore.
OptimumEDGE @ Aug 31st 2009 4:09PM
Oh this is another DLC apart from Ballad of Gay Tony? Interesting...
Also, I'm pretty sure you need GTA:IV to play these.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Aug 31st 2009 4:23PM
"Though we'd love to spend our precious time poring over the just-released cover of upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV DLC retail pack,..."
wanna try reading again??
OptimumEDGE @ Aug 31st 2009 11:11PM
I don't understand your response.
wanna try dat again??
lorderk @ Aug 31st 2009 4:23PM
No "Only on Xbox" tag...hmmm....
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Aug 31st 2009 4:29PM
you DO have a point....it the "Contract" was for DOWNLOADABLE Chapters then this could very WELL just be released on PS3 as well....Time will tell....either way it wont be until next year....
MrKlorox @ Aug 31st 2009 5:14PM
oh? do you have a copy of the contract? did you actually see it? no? well then that's hearsay. the truth is that we don't know the actual wording of the deal, so everything is speculation. it's up to us to believe if what they tell us is accurate and honest.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Aug 31st 2009 5:52PM
thats why I Said IF dude....chill out...
Andrew Ryan @ Aug 31st 2009 4:30PM
In all reality I felt these dlc packs should've been exclusive to PS3.. It just made more sense to me. Luckily I don't need my PS3 version to play these expansions. WOOT!!
Edicius @ Aug 31st 2009 7:34PM
Why "should" it have been exclusive to the PS3? MS paid $50 million for these to be made exclusive for the 360.
Andrew Ryan @ Aug 31st 2009 8:51PM
That's not the point. "GTA DLC" sounds like a PlayStation situation. I'm just used to playing GTA on PS systems. I meant nothing bad.
Jordan Biffle @ Aug 31st 2009 4:37PM
I don't see an "Only for Xbox 360" logo on the box, possibly a PS3 port in the works, after all, it isn't "downloadable content" if you buy it on a disc right?
Snowblind @ Aug 31st 2009 7:46PM
Somehow, I doubt Microsoft were stupid enough to miss some small technicality. Besides, they've always claimed they're exclusive episodes, not simply exclusive DLC. And for $50 million, I don't think MS will be giving it up lightly.
I'd guess that these will stay pretty exclusive, but all the future episodes will be multiplatform.. but who knows when it comes to this DLC crap, and hopefully this is the end of it.
chris @ Aug 31st 2009 10:36PM
Snowblind, not if these photos are true and real. Look at the log on the t.vs in the back ground and where said t.vs are located. http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2009/08/gc09-gta-iv-lost-ps3/
Infidel @ Aug 31st 2009 4:39PM
it looks fabulous darling, just fabulous
Velocifaptor @ Aug 31st 2009 9:48PM
oh you
Hooligunn @ Aug 31st 2009 4:45PM
Here's what I want to know.
I wonder if this will be given it's own 1000 Gamerscore seperate from GTA4, rather than adding another 125 on for Ballad of Gay Tony. I know the DLC cap has lifted, so maybe when they release the Ballad of Gay Tony, they'll add some Lost and Damned achievements, because 125 was so limiting to the whole experience on the achievement front. There was so much to do in L&D (which I did regardless of achievements) but little to reward you for it.
I hope this either gets it's own 1000 gamerscore, or they bump GTA4 up to 1750 rather than another 125 jump for the Ballad of Gay Tony. I'd love some more L&D cheevos.
Hooligunn @ Aug 31st 2009 4:46PM
Sorry I misworded the above. I wonder if the disc will have a seperate 1000 gamerscore FROM the 125 they'll probably add on for the Ballad of Gay Tony. Or, I wonder if it will just use the DLC achievements from GTA4, and appear as GTA4 on your gamercard.
Hope that's clearer.
MrKlorox @ Aug 31st 2009 5:11PM
I didn't think of that. I'd expect them to only give the box 500 points total. 250 for each episode. Unless they release extra achievements and points for the DLC versions to make it even, which doesn't seem likely. Also it will probably add to your regular GTA4 score instead of having its own title/slot.
Snowblind @ Aug 31st 2009 7:39PM
If it's a seperate game (which it is) it has to have the full 1000 points.
TimmyEl @ Sep 2nd 2009 3:39AM
I think the precedent for Episodes having the full thousand points has already been set with the release of Tomb Raider Anniversary. That was sold as dlc for Tomb Raider Legend with a total of 250 gamerscore available while it was released on a disc at a later date complete complete with a full thousand gamerscore available. I believe Episodes from Liberty City will follow suit.
relaxeder @ Aug 31st 2009 4:47PM
Parachutes!
Wagnerdepower @ Aug 31st 2009 5:03PM
When you go to Rockstar's website. it just says Xbox 360. Nothing about PS3.
borntokill @ Aug 31st 2009 5:02PM
FYI all the DLCs are timed exclusive. They will eventually come to PS3 but they're slow as hell. So grab the 360 version for now.
MrKlorox @ Aug 31st 2009 5:07PM
The GTA boxart style looks strange with crooked, zig-zagging lines. Anybody else notice this?
drdre74 @ Aug 31st 2009 5:20PM
I bought the PS3 version so its cool you dont need the game to play the DLC on this new disc. I'll more than likely buy this when t comes out for my 360.
MrKlorox @ Aug 31st 2009 5:32PM
I've been seeing a lot of comments like this. Gotta give the GTA marketeers props.
They got many hardcore PC users to buy a console (an act of heresy to them) because they wouldn't confirm a PC port. They got many PS3/360 owners who were on the fence or leaning toward PS3 to buy the 360 version with the promise of downloadable episodes (conveniently avoiding talking about stand-alone versions). Now they're getting the remaining multi-console owners who did not buy it on 360 to buy the episodes now out of "exclusivity", as well as the folks who re-sold/traded their initial copy of GTA4 because they got bored with it.
Now what will their next surprise be? I'm betting they'll put a spin on the "Microsoft-owned" aspect and put the DLC on PC via GFWL announced near the end of this year. Or announce a multiplatform chapter of DLC. Or Both.
Henry @ Aug 31st 2009 7:26PM
From Rockstar's Website.
"Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City includes both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony together on disc exclusively for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft."
This is no new game, just the disc version of the DLC and it is only for 360, sorry PS3.
Tann @ Aug 31st 2009 8:34PM
how does this work as a standalone?
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington, Soon-To-Be-PSN: OrIsItAltonBrown] @ Aug 31st 2009 10:40PM
You put it in the tray. It spins. A laser reads the data. You press buttons and your character performs an action that corresponds to the button you pushed. Your brain releases endorphins which elevate your mood. You smile. The End.
Honestly...
ddub @ Sep 2nd 2009 2:07PM
is this more like GTA4 or like San Andreas? Cause i loved San Andreas and hated GTA4.
