Alright, let's try a game.

Let's keep discussion on topic ("Wow, Canada continues to attract major video game talent!") instead of commenting on how Ms. Raymond is more attractive than the lot of us.

What do you win for playing our game? The ability to stand upright and exercise the more sophisticated parts of your brain, thus earning you the admiration of all your peers.

If you don't play our game? You earn yourself a one-way ticket to Bantown, population: you, some other trolls I banned this morning, and a porn spambot.

Have fun! I'll start.

"Wow, Canada continues to attract major video game talent in a down economy! Good for them. Now, let's hope that said AAA titles and new IP aren't code for 'MOAR ASSASSIN'S CREEDZ.'"

Alright, let's try a game.

Let's put heroin in front of a heroin addict, and then we ban him the second he shoots up. Awesome.

It's very uncommon to see a blogger down in the comment section... I wonder... is it possible to downvote a blogger?

Chris,

I've been a longtime contributor to the comments section for a longtime. Your criteria for determining who stays and who goes, has never once been consistent. Obvious examples have been banned, over and over again. Yet, the clearest examples of 'trolling' or inflammatory postings never receive the slightest rebuke. I'm at a loss to say what is allowed here and what isn't, as you've never made it remotely clear. Other than, upset the author, and you're gone?

At a loss here,

Markez

Dear God, don't you see what's happened? Chris has set up a creep honeypot.

He's just standing by the entrance with his banhammer waving, waiting to shoot us all like fish in a barrel.

Run, everyone!

Now that I've made my lul, here's my honest opinion:

This is a crock of shit. Don't ban the perpetual assholes, don't ban the stalkers, don't ban the complete morons, BUT let's call a great deal of attention to ultimately uninteresting news by tagging it as "BREAKING," pasting Jade Raymond's face and name in it, and then baiting everyone in the comments, daring them to say, "I sure do love me some titties."

Thanks, Chris.

[Ed: all we're asking for is for commenters on the site to act like adults and discuss the news, which is breaking, without devolving into a running commentary on the physical attributes of the individual being discussed. It's a simple demand.]

Please please PLEASE make this a topic of discussion for this week's podcast. This is hysterical. It has to include the phrase "non-stop climax action" or it doesn't count.

Is this the new and improved p.c. joystiq? Because if you're going to ban people for derogatory comments against women, I expect to see equal treatment for such comments made toward:

-Men
-Religion
-Ethnicity
-Etc. etc. etc...

I'm all for it, as long as it is universal. But in my years of coming to this site, this is the first time I've ever witnessed such moral policing. You've set the bar high here Chris, let's hope you can maintain it, otherwise you better be ready for the onslaught of commenters calling you a hypocrite.

Let's play a different game.

Pretend you are somehow above everyone else by posting a comment calling out their sexism. In doing so, reveal that you yourself objectify the person you are trying to protect through some pseudo-intellectual "white knight" shenanigans.

I'm pretty sure that the whole point revolves around the fact that 'Ms. Raymond is more attractive than the lot of us'. It's no coincidence she's been in so many interviews and that almost everyone around here knows how she looks like. It's pretty obvious Ubisoft is using her sex appeal in to promote their games besides whatever talents she has to make games.

If Ubisoft is exploiting her good looks, why can't we comment on said good looks....

What did Jade do to deserve the untouchable status?

I don't think the same concern was given for comments in the Megan Fox on XBL article.

The fun. You're killing it.

I totally predicted this the day they announced the funding for Ubi Toronto. I think this is awesome because now you dont need to learn french to get a job at a respectable game studio - i might actually consider taking some design courses

Anyone who's willing to make more AAA games and new IP's is ok in my book. I liked assassin's creed, and I'm very interested in that I am alive game and I hope they do pretty well.

Despite Chris' warning, I fear this thread will end how we all think it will :\
