I can already sense yhe frustration that some "casual" parents might have when they find out the game they just bought wont work on their child's DS.. Or the cashiers frusteration explaining it all..

I feel you, not That matt, Nintendo is creating some sad faces around here too. The top screen on mine has cracked and become just about unusable. I want a new DS but I don't know if I want another DSL and I feel like the DSi is over priced. I'm holding out hope that there is a true successor waiting in the wings but, alas, news like this crushes my hopes on that front.

Whee?

There's not much to implement for DSi games other then the cameras, so hopefully the creativity won't run dry. And with that immediate news probably means it's going to be a 3rd party game, which makes me kinda sad, but oh well. Those white cartriges should look fun!

Not much more to implement? Well, gimmick-wise, yes. But the DSi has more RAM than the DS Phat/Lite, so there's that to utilize.

when did double the ram and double the processor power ever hurt games?
that would only help out. able to utilize more from the console at 1 time.
and knowing ubisoft, im sure the camera will be a part of it to.

um the OP said ''[And with that immediate news probably means it's going to be a 3rd party game]''

that shows me he/she didnt read past the heading and see that Ubisoft is releasing games on the DSi only and they are a 3rd party.. right?

what does that have to do with the 1 DSi game nintendo has released thus far ?
obviously the OP would not have made the comment had they saw the ubisoft statement, which answered their own question.
cheerz dumbass.

The improved specs are really only for better media capabilities and gimmicks. There'll be some games that can do stuff that they couldn't do before, but overall it'll be pretty much the same thing. Otherwise, it wouldn't be called the DSi.

@sk8monroe81

You are failing to distinguish between DSi-exclusive and DSi-enhanced. DSi-exclusive (or DSi-only) refers to a game that will ONLY work on the DSi. DSi-enhanced refers to a game that will work on both the DS and DSi, but will have some added functionality when played on the DSi.

This article is about DSi-exclusive games. At the time of publication, none had yet been announced (although at least one was announced today); the article is about a rumor that some were coming. The article begins by pointing out that Ubisoft has announced DSi-enhanced games, but that no one had yet announced any DSi-exclusive games. The OP was guessing (probably correctly) that the DSi-exclusive games would be third party. You seem to think that the article says that the DSi-exclusive games will be coming from Ubisoft. The article says no such thing.

this seems pretty cool but i think it will leave a quite a few DS owners a little P.O.ed.

They'd already set the stage for this, so it's no big surprise. I just have to wonder what titles they'll reserve for the DSi, as I knew regular DS owners would get screwed at some point.

So DSi exclusive Petz and Imagine? Whatever, no reason to upgrade.

"Some DSi-enhanced games are out or on the way soon, mostly from Ubisoft."

Ubisoft has announced DSi-enhanced titles. Not exclusives. The company (or companies) responsible for the DSi-exclusive title(s) is (or are) not specified.

AS LONG AS I HAVE SCRIBBLENAUTS. To be honest, I can't think of any major release that COULD top Scribblenauts. Sorry Nintendo, my DS game library is complete (except the Layton Series- if THAT'S DSi only, we're going to have a problem).

This isn't optimal. I have negative money set aside for systems. They'll probably suck, like half of the 3rd party games.

Well I am not going to buy it. I only got a Lite a little over a year ago.

Hopefully all the big titles stay on normal DS format.

Seems like a mistake, more casual gamers certainly aren't interested in upgrading and even a lot of hardcore gamers are still more than happy with their lites. I don't think forcing people to upgrade is going to go down too well.

Unless the next Pokemon game is DSi only, I don't think they could get me to. At this point, I'd rather just wait for their next proper system.

I don't see what is so upsetting to everyone here. Nintendo has said since the launch of the DSi that they would support both platforms far into the future. This will just be like the Gameboy Color release where a while after it came out there were Color enhanced games (they had two different versions of each new game with clear labeling). You'll have your DS games and then DSi owners will have there slightly prettier (hopefully) games with tacked on camera gameplay but in the end they'll be the same game.

Wow, exciting, this is awesome, cool, changes.

DSi-only, this is new. It's not DSi-enhanced, it's DSi only. This is new, exciting, I want to see what they do.

Who's 'they'? Who's even releasing these DSi-only games? Time will tell, time will tell!

What was that, Nintendo? The DSi isn't meant to replace my DS Lite?
Oh, and the DS wasn't meant to replace my Gameboy Advance?

I've completely caught on to Nintendo's business scheme here. I'm not buying the DSi. Further, if my prediction is correct, the DSi just may go the way of the Gameboy Micro. It won't be as quick as the Gameboy Micro, but it is a worthless system.

Screw you, Nintendo. And you wonder why people want to mod their systems and buy flashcarts and stuff.

I hate the DSi, as the camera's are a joke. I wish Nintendo had just made a true successor to the DS like a DSii or something. What a waste and a way for Nintendo to get more money out of their loyal customers. Nintendo only thinks about money and what they can get from them. I've never seen a company so hell-bent on making money from 20 year old IP's. The DSi is a waste of time with no GBA and less battery life. I'll keep my DS Lite thank you, and so will many others. I think Nintendo will find many won't be supporting the DSi and those who do will be confused into it by thinking the games work interoperability.
