Rumor: Rock Band 2 will import LEGO Rock Band tracks

Wired's GameLife cites a "highly-placed source close to Harmonix" as informing the site that Rock Band 2 owners will be able to rip tracks from the LEGO Rock Band game disc, just as they were able to do with songs from the original Rock Band. The source also notes that a "small fee" will probably be involved -- again, just as with Rock Band to Rock Band 2 song importing. ($5, in case you forgot.)

Along with this rumored feature, the site has posted a list of upcoming DLC, including 10 tracks from Queen and three from The Raconteurs due in October. Three songs from The White Stripes are listed for November release. Undisclosed material from Attack! Attack! and The Duke Spirit appears as undated Rock Band Network content.

When contacted for comment, Harmonix told Joystiq, "While we don't comment on rumors or speculation with regards to our upcoming downloadable content, we can promise that the Rock Band platform is poised to remain the unchallenged best value and source of music for rhythm games."

This supposed "leak" is very conveniently timed, given that Guitar Hero 5 releases tomorrow. Doncha' think?

I bet it'll be a one time use code, so you can't go renting this title for the cheap song import. I for one can wait for the price drop on this title, because the Beatles are going to keep me occupied for a while.

They should change the name of Rock Band into "Song Helper", cause you just add songs to your existing Rock Band game, and voila, it's as easy as 1..2..3..

Also, having more songs for $5,- is always good, but I'm really excited about the RBN, since that's going to mean more tracks from all our favourite artists, since this is supposed to be the Itunes of Rock Band.

Oh and I'd photoshop a Hamburger Helper box into Song Helper, but I'm too fucking lazy.

yeah, importing songs into rock band 2 is awesome. dani california + everlong + ride the lightning + take me out + power of equality + clint eastwood = WIN.

if they added californication (the album) by RHCP, i wouldn't need another music game ever again.

Taking it "Californication" is your fav RHCP album then? Which is my fav by far. The fact that whole album was recorded without the use of any effects or digital editing gives it such a unique sound and I've never heard anything like it.

On the flipside of that though, the reason I love Oasis' "Be Here Now" so much, is cause they really threw the kitchen sink at that one. 10 layers of guitar tracks? Epic over-produced amounts of noise and most songs are more then 6 minutes long?

It's probably one of their most critically hated albums, and it's a bit mucky here and there as far as the mix goes, but the sheer power behind it fucking makes me want to listen to it over and over and over and over again.

We're going a bit offtopic here... more so a reason to add some sort of friends/chat/message system here on Joystiq, I'd say *wink wink, nudge nudge*

at this point, i'll just settle for an FML-like edit option. 2 minutes to edit your post after posting it. that would be awesome. trolls won't be able to cover up their tracks after being called out, and normal people would be able to clarify or fix typos.

...Wow, if that list is correct, 12 Queen songs in total? I think Queen fans are going to be really...REALLY happy, especially after that wait. Interested what the other 9 Queen songs are going to be.

I have a feeling that We are the Champions and We Will Rock You will be melded into one sone, a la Foreplay/Longtime.

Yeah, what's the point of paying $60 to get the Lego songs without the Lego people? The other way makes more sense.

I know you said you want it to happen, meaning you already know this... but others on the Interwebs might not be keeping up with all the details --

It's never gonna happen. LRB is the family friendly version, so your Lego man wouldn't be singing any Judas Priest/Megadeath/Rage Against the Machine/whoever else any time soon. I'm not saying it wouldn't be entertaining, just don't get your hopes up.

If this is true, that should just about top off my 20 GB hard drive, and make half of it Rock Band stuff. This is the worst good news ever.

Same for me, although the new update makes most game installs smaller so I can still fit one on... although a 60GB/120GB HD would be really nice. Its my only complaint about my 360 compared to the PS3.

While the prices on the 360 HDs officially blow ass. Please do yourself a favor and upgrade - it's worth it. At least get yourself a 60GB... $35-$40 on ebay last I checked. Yes, it's overpriced - but what isn't these days? Maybe wait a bit to see if the rumored 250GB HD is a reality or not, just to see how ridiculous the price could be. With at least a 60GB HD though you won't have as many worries like you do with the 20GB (13GB in all reality.. I don't own a 60GB so I don't know what it actually equates to... still better than 13 though).

i'm not complaining for having RB2 as my main game, but i wouldn't mind playing RB2 songs+DLC in LRB

Once again, WHAT IS THE POINT OF LEGOS ROCK BAND? This is the stupidest collaboration project. Whats next, the instruments have to be assembled with legos? Thats 10,000 pieces right there already.

You might want to settle with DUPLO Rock Band then.. LEGO is for big boys. Now off to beddy bye bye, Sesame Street should be over by now.
