Couldnt a camera be added to the GBA slot for the ds light/fat like the old gameboy camera? You know, for people who didnt want to upgrade.

As awesome as the Gameboy Camera was, it was hideous in quality. I doubt that counts as an upgrade.

Also, there is no easy way to add a camera device that fluidly works with the system like the built in DSi one does. It would take a software upgrade and everything.

Hey, Sony Boy, that's still 300,000 pixels more than the PSP's camera!

The DSi has 4x the RAM, double the clock speed, new larger screens, onboard flash memory (to increase game boot times) and new wireless security options. I bought one at launch (obviously as I'm defending the console) and I love it. The GBA slot isn't a big deal cause I always have my GBA Famicom with me.

Wasn't there that Ghostwire game that required the DSi's camera as well? I really want that game, too.

So then wouldn't invizimals and this be a copy of those barcode scanners years back that let you scan barcodes to gain new monsters?

Skannerz, Barcode Battler, Monster Maker: Barcode Saga, and etc....

Of course, my favorite wasn't about scanning barcodes, it was scanning other discs... I LOVED Monster Rancher. 2 was the best.

What this has over Invizimals is a less dreadful title and the pleasure of being Nintendo's first DSi game. Also, probably a better ad campaign than that silly live action trailer for Invizimals.

This is what'll get me to upgrade. Not this specifically, but some sort of compelling retail games.

Khan, I'm telling you, it's worth the upgrade already! Specifically because you're still rocking the Phat!

I Agree. If you have a DS lite, its hard to justify on its own but if you have a phat, it is much easier to look at it as (probably) the last upgrade before the DS2

I too am rocking the Phat, as you say, and stuff like this is what's getting me to buy a DSi in the near future. I mean, my R button is gummy, the speakers are crackling like mad, and the touch screen is starting to get pretty bumpy.

Hmmn I wonder if the revamped Pokemon games will be DSi only.

And for the record I support this. I mean there's no reason to buy the DSi if there aren't going to be games that are optimized for the system.'

I do feel bad for those who own DSLites though but at the same time no one is forcing you to do anything.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver definitely aren't.
The 5th Gen games could well be though, but they're still at least a year off.

NOBODY expects the Reply Fail! Amongst its weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms.

I'm pretty disgusted at this news as this is the last thing adopters of DSI need: false hope. For this is a video game version of a mirage if ever I saw one. DSI-exclusive games are not going to be the median when it comes to this pointless device, it won't even be an afterthought. You'll get gimmicky concepts attached to tired ideas (does the world need more Digimon?) such as these, but nothing of genuine substance. Think of it as the supermarket wine to your glossy duck. The former just ruins the latter, and it adds to the growing, but unspoken, consensus, that the DSI was redundant from launch.

Hell yes it'll be all gimmick and no substance! Just like the DS when it laun- oohhh that's right. Then it went on to become one of the best-selling systems. I almost forgot about that.

"It's part Monster Rancher, part augmented reality."

What a coincidence, because that's the EXACT sentence that makes me sell my DS Lite and buy a DSi. Huh. How about that!
