Man, I clicked on this article just to comment on how much his face looked like it'd be fun to smash in, but it appears I've been beaten to the punch.

Get it? Punch? As in assaulting someone in the face? Eh? Punch?

...I'll leave now.

Kotick may be on to something...afterall, his studio is churning out horrid sequels at a faster pace than any movie studio could imagine. 6-7 "Hero" titles in one year? Hah, even the Saw franchise couldn't pull that off.

imo every SAW movie is at least "acceptable" mostly good... that said many titles in the GH franchise are absymal most recently GH SH was absolute crap. I still love that Neversoft are so talented they should reject the production of shitty GH games & protect their IP because they've done great thus far. But I personally don't know what to say about Milkvision.

I'm sorry, but the real Andrew Ryan would never, never, never, never, never, not ever endorse the Saw movies and the only way that said movies could be considered "acceptable" is if you a) sacrifice all the elements that come together to form a film such as acting, coherent plot, non-retarded sounding dialogue, etc., in lieu of gore-porn and elaborate death sequences or b) hate your fellow man so very much that you hope that someone may read your comment, reconsider their view on how idiotic the Saw films actually are and then go and watch one of them, thus wasting their time and reconfirming their original opinion that the Saw movies are, in point of fact, a literal cancer on the film industry.

If it's b), hat's off to you, my friend.

I think what Kotick *means* to say is that his company is working towards over-saturating and dumbing-down video games to a level comparable with mainstream television and cinema. They've already made bold strides in their music rhythm and MMO departments, to be sure.

I think it has already trumped movies, considering the budgets required to make and distribute movies. That's from a business stand point. And the only game I could consider has defeated tv in attention span would be WoW and the xbox live service.

And technologically, it might have to take a little help some those same movie actors, so the creators can take an easier way to fake emotions, looking at benajmin Button, I think the realism of the CGI is the bridge from polygons to skin, now, it's only a matter of practicing on both medium so it becomes common place, kind of like what Jurassic Park did for fx but now for "avatars".

but it's coming and it's great to see a high profile looking into the future, hopefully, he will bring those innovations to their Guitar Hero franchise which hasn't innovated anything since the creators left.

Kotick is a prick dick but he will still rub his anus with dollar bills from Guitar Hero, WoW, Modern Warfare 2, etc.

Modern Warfare 2 for $60 on PC and we don't get any of the special editions when COD started on the PC and has a large fanbase on the PC? You rape the Soldier of Fortune franchise by the third horrible game "Payback" developed by your budget studio yet charged full price for it at launch?

You bastard.

I agree what Activision is doing to the PC users with Modern Warfare 2 is messed up big time. Like you stated they are what started Call of Duty and gave it there original support. SO there thanks to that fanbase is making them pay more for the game.

Unfortunately, its not only Call of Duty as a franchise which started on the PC but now is snubbing it.

Like Epic, I grew up with their games on the PC in the early 90s like Jill of the Jungle and Jazz Jackrabbit. Epic and other developers started off on the PC and is what made them so big today, they didn't have the funds at the start to be developing for consoles and so developed for an open platform with no royalties like the PC.

So, you mind bringing Gears of War 2 to the PC please? Though its probably also Microsoft who isn't allowing it, they are shooting the PC in the foot just so the 360 gets the most sales, Alan Wake is another example. They would like us PC gamers to throw our gaming PC's in the trash and buy 360s instead. >: (

PIXAR can't even do this using weeks of processing time, arrays of thousands of CPU's and some of the most talented 3D artists on the fucking planet, and we're listening to this shithead?

I think they could if they tried. Valve is nearly there in terms of animation of characters (their efforts in the Orange Box and L4D were amazing), and Crytek have basically managed realistic LOOKING people. So on the next generation, maybe we will see it after all.

Isn't this kinda already happening now? I'm pretty sure that the games industry makes a whole load more money than TV and the film industry. But I don't think that was the dudes point He mentions "rendering believable human characters in real time" I dont care If my game characters look real or not, the less real they look the better. For the most part, I dont want a real life experiance when i'm playing a game, I want a game. So that dude can go stick that guitar where the sun don't shine.

Indeed it was a reply fail. Yes I own a Wii, Its my secondary console. The bulk of my gaming is on my 360. Realistic "believable human characters in real time" Is not the be all, and end all of quality gaming. Gaming for me, is escapism. I dont wan't realistic real world experiances everytime I reach for the controller. One of my favourite games this year has been 'Splosion Man. Proper believable real time stuff going on there.

Actually, believe it or not Tomsta I agree with you, I just couldn't pass up that opportunity for a Wii joke. One of my favorite games is Katamari Damacy, which is about as far from realistic as you can get. I often find myself looking back at the days when gaming meant: run through the jungle, stomp on a crocodile pirate, collect bananas, repeat. Not exactly realistic, but lots of fun, and that's all a game has to be.
