Namco Bandai hoping to expand European presence
After locking up Atari's Euro distribution business and announcing several new games at GamesCom, Namco Bandai is working hard to improve its presence in the west. Namco Bandai Partners' VP of "UK and Nordic," John Galloway, tells MCV that the company is investing heavily in games "more suited for European gamers" and hopes to be "one of the top five publishers" in Europe within five years.
Namco Bandai isn't the only Japanese company going west. Square Enix, best known for Japanese role-playing games, certainly branched out in its acquisition of UK-based Eidos. Galloway notes that Europe is the "next key market" for the company. Let's hope the "mass market" titles it announced actually appeal to its new target market.

If they put out Gundam Senki in Europe after I've just paid 80 bucks to import it from Japan, I'm going to rage.

I've just been watching the game livestreamed for a couple of hours (a guy in Japan got a leaked copy somehow) and I've come up with a couple of conclusions:
1.The framerate is excellent
2. The graphics are par for the course, some remarked they were slightly uglier than Crossfire (although the framerate was smooth, so it was a worthwhile drawback)
3.The story has all the Gundam tropes, but it doesn't really go above and beyond (the characters are all sort of generic and unmemorable)
Overall, I'm having a hard time justifying the 80 bucks to myself. The online multiplayer may make up for that, but really this is just a graphically superior version of the Gundam games that came out for the PS2. Having said all of that, this is easily the best Gundam game ever made for a console (with the exception of the Dreamcast Gundam game perhaps) and if this isn't worth 80 dollars to me, I don't know what is. 80 dollars is a high barrier for entry, but for the best Gundam game out there, the Gundam fan in me can't say no.
I'd give a more complete review, but it's really late and I have school tomorrow. I also hate to review something I've only seen played, and haven't actually played myself. Imagine Crossfire with a much better framerate, and online play, and then ask yourself if that is worth 80 dollars to you. I'll admit that I'm more in favor of a sim-gundam game (with a cockpit view, and more powerful weaponry, which this game doesn't have) but I'll probably get my 80 dollars worth out of the game.
Oh, and a lot of the menu's are in English. The story isn't subtitled though, so you won't really know what is going on unless you wait for the Gamefaq's article.

I have class tomorrow*
Had to correct myself, because if I went to sleep thinking I had "school" (in the highschool sense) tomorrow, I might have had a panic attack in the middle of the night. Thank you college, for not waking me up at 5-6am every day of the wretched school week.
