EPIC WIN for the Rock Band platform. Instead of coming up with one-offs like GH: Van Halen or GH: Aerosmith, they should have been thinking ahead -- people want to play a whole library of games, not groups of 50 at a time.

Why? I don't have my Rock Band tracks imported over. I just put in whatever disc I want to play (same with Guitar Hero and GH: Metallica).

AC/DC Track Pack for Rock Band isn't a one off. Its exportable free of charge

The Beatles: Rock Band is only a "one off" because of liscensing. And even then, Harmonix will release EVEN MORE Beatles songs instead of just putting out the disc and being done with it

jrod, why not import them over? it costs $5 to import RB1, and AC/DC and the track packs are free. it makes the experience a lot better.

This is slightly unfair. The Beatles is standalone with no plans for cross-support with RB2.

On the other hand, the list of Guitar Hero games is about a foot long and until now none have been compatible with one another. If you can call this shambles 'compatibility'.

@Kleptomaniac:
As said above AC/DC one doesn't count as it was just a track pack which consisted entirely of AC/DC songs and was freely exportable.
Another point to note is that while, yes, The Beatles: Rock Band is a separate game based on one band, unlike the GH: Metallica etc games it consists of ONLY songs by The Beatles and will feature more DLC solely from The Beatles back catalogue...
While if we look at GH: Metallica for example, only 28/49 songs on that disc were by Metallica! Which is a pretty lame idea, even though I'm not really a Metallica fan, but if I was I wouldn't expect to buy a game named after them and find out nearly half the tracks are from other bands!

I pretty much only play DLC and RB2 songs these days.

But having just looked through the setlist to point how little you're missing I've found quite the treasure trove:

Highway Star
Detroit Rock City
Black Hole Sun
Cherub Rock
Dani California
Don't Fear The Reaper
Epic
Flirtin' With Disaster
Foreplay/Long Time
Go With The Flow
Green Grass and High Tides (only fun on guitar though)
Mississippi Queen
In Bloom
Next To You
Learn To Fly
crap cover of Tom Sawyer (go download the whole of Moving Pictures NAO!)
Train Kept A-Rollin'
Welcome Home
Won't Get Fooled Again

For the last few months I'd been under the impression that the original had a pretty bland setlist but shit, there's some fun stuff to play there. Shame Enter Sandman and Paranoid don't transfer across.

Them being my favorite band,I hate to break it to you,but maybe it's because they are actually GOOD?

You do realize they started off as a punk band, right? They play all their own instruments aside from rapping.

"* Will I be charged for future games? Will I need to download again for each new Guitar Hero game tahtthat supports this feature?

No. This is a one time re-licensing fee. Once the songs are on your Hard Drive (or SD card) all future games that support this feature will automatically access them."

Well, that settles that. It's still a major fail that we can't have all the songs out of the box, though.

Not to mention a major fail on that typo. Yeesh!

Word from Activision is that the import list isn't definitive. While these 35 tracks are the ones available right now, the list will be updated as licenses for songs are cleared and the tracks are updated to take advantage of Guitar Hero 5's new features

http://www.destructoid.com/guitar-hero-5-s-world-tour-import-feature-is-bullsh-t-147094.phtml

I'm not supporting them just thought I would clarify.
Since this is still pretty lame compared to what Rock Band did

But in a way, aren't they?

Rock Band 2 has the rock star experience down pat, while Guitar Hero 5 looks to be more about letting you play however you want with whatever instrument setup you want. It isn't even fair on some level to compare it to RB2, just because it looks to be somewhat of a different animal this time around while Guitar Hero World Tour's main focus was on trying to be Rock Band Lite.

You make a good point, I admit. It still feels like Guitar Hero is playing catch-up, but its good to bring in the "party play" for more diverse band game other than "Guitar Hero: We're Rock Band Too!"

But from what I've seen of GH5, it still doesn't look like enough to warrant a purchase as I already have Rock Band. Once Guitar Hero will do something completely outfield (in a good way of course - by no means am I saying bring back another dead celebrity) that is completely different than what Rock Band is doing is when I'll purchase another Guitar Hero.

But the only thing to really come out of that catagory recently was Rock Band Network, and seeing as thats Rock Band... I think I'll be waiting a while for "that" Guitar Hero.
