I would've preferred it on the PSP, but I guess the DS is a better fit for the calligraphy stuff.

Things like this make me sad that the DS is such a underpowered/outdated platform.

I mean Come ON Nintendo! We need a proper hardware revision, not this DSi bullshit.

The DS is 5 years old, the Gameboy Advance was only out for 3 before it was replaced.

THE DSI IS NOT A PROPER HARDWARE REVISION! WHY? BECAUSE IT HAS NO EXCLUSIVE GAMES! Okay, that's not true, it has DSi ware, and a mario clock. What it DOESN'T have is 3rd party support or any reasonably justifiable reason to shell out extra cash over the DS lite. 'and the lack of a GBA slot means it has a smaller library than the DS lite.
I mean first the DSi, then the PSP go! Neither of which are major hardware revisions. When the fuck are we going to get the next generation of portable gaming? Maybe I should just buy a fucking iPod touch and play their $2 flash games. at least apple got the multimedia part right.

Do I want to play a sequel to a PS2 game on sub-n64 hardware? No. Hell no.
Too bad though, I liked Okami.

But you're right, I'm the problem. It's my fault Nintendo refuses to upgrade their hardware. It's my fault Nintendo is destroying the game industry. It's my fault most Wii games are inferior to the gamecube in terms of both graphics and gameplay. It's my fault that Open pandora isn't finished yet for that matter.

Fanboys like you are the cancer killing gaming. Destroying the industry? Wow, you should be a drama actor.

DSi is to DS as GBC was to GB.
Yeah, it has no exclusive games now. Neither did GBC when it first came out.
First came the dual-mode GBC-enhanced games. Hey, DSi-enhanced games are coming, too!
Then came the GBC-only games (Wario Land 3, Pokémon Crystal, Shantae, etc.). Wowzers, Nintendo announced DSi-only retail games are coming!

Seriously, relax man. Hating on video games like that isn't good for your blood pressure.

The DSi is much more powerful than the DS processing power and has 4 times the amount of RAM, whether or not Okami uses the extra power is up to them and not Nintendo but as its not listed as DSi I'm guessing that the "underpowered" DS was powerful enough for their game.

DSi is a cash-in, but Nintendo can get away with it because Sony has yet to advance their own handheld properly either.

I'll say it time and time again. The DSi 's specs will do very little for games. Those increased specs were mainly for better media capabilities and I continue to stand by my belief that there won't be many games using that hardware for the better. If it could do so much more than the DS it would have been marketed differently.

I love idiots who think processing power and cutting edge graphics are the most important qualifications for games. Fun and innovation will always be superior. You can map a turd with havok physics and an emotion engine, but its still a turd. A solid DS game is legitimate, and its a shame your blu ray colored glasses can't see that.

It's a goddamn hand-held. Graphics and whiz-bang effects are not the priority in this case, ask every. single. handheld. producer other than Nintendo. Oh wait, you can't? Right, it's because they all went out of business. The fact that Sony, the most powerful console developer (at the time of the PSP's release) had to struggle to hang on to the PSP's minimal market share (which was in large to due piracy and homebrew) is indicative of the fact that graphics and power are not that important in hand-held devices.

That's funny, considering I've only ever owned nintendo handhelds.
and the most important thing for Nintendo to change is to increase the 128MB max game size on the NDS.

I shouldn't have ranted, I know better than to rage over trolls, even at 2AM.

Did you know that the gameboy color was a direct result of game developers demanding a more powerful platform? While the DS-DSi comparison is probably the most valid, the gameboy color had double the processing power of the gameboy, not to mention the fact that the leap from monochromatic to color is a very significant advancement.

I've played quite a few NDS games that have noticeably suffered from running on limited hardware, and lets face it, a dedicated gaming handheld is being outperformed by a cellphone. That's just not right.

@MLS "Fun and innovation will always be superior."

You can't have your cake and eat it dumbass. I'm asking for innovation, and all you DS fanboys are down rating me for asking for innovation instead of the same tired hardware, fun has nothing to do with it.

Besides, your poop analogy is completely wrong, but your way of thinking, multiplatform games would be superior on the Wii because of waggle control, despite inferior rendering and netwrok capabilities; Or that LoZ:TP would have been as rich of an experience if 95% of the content was cut out, all lighting and atmospheric effects were removed, and all that remained was super compressed to fit into a 64MB DS cartridge.

Giving developers a more powerful platform to work with in no way affects their ability to make a game fun, but tying their hands with hardware constraints can.
Ask yourself, why was FFVII on the PS1 instead of the N64? Because the PS1 could handle 700MB of content per disk. Period. Nintendo lost the franchise because the developer couldn't work within the constraints that their platform provided.

Not because I'm bitter about RE4 going to PS2. Of course not! I think it's great that more people got to enjoy the game.

But because a promise is a promise. Plus, it'd look really cool on a silver platter.

It's not fanboyism. Fanboyism is blindly hating good games that are on other platform because of of some misguided brand loyalty that does nothing for you at the end of the day. I on the other hand have a psp and not a ds and wish that this game would come to psp as well so that I can play it. I also have no idea whether or not this game will be dsi exclusive, so It's not like I could pick one up anytime soon, not to mention I'm broke. Anyway, I am pretty excited about this game. I hope it does well enough to justify a psp port so that everyone wins.

Using the analog sticks for painting wasn't difficult on the PS2 for Okami. It actually worked quite well.
The Wii one needed work...

Now the one for PSP could work, as I'm quite comfortable with the "analog stick" for it... despite that my thumb gets cramps if I use it too much.

However, using the stylus? TOTAL AWESOMENESS.

I hope it's pretty much all touchscreen stuff like phantom hourglass or ninja gaiden. dashing along long curving coastlines won't be the same with a d-pad, and the original had such a wonderful sense that you were just arsing about, it needs a real flow to it.

Also, where's my celestial plane? I don't see no celestial plane.

Is it just me, or is anyone else sick of watching their favorite franchises go to other platforms? For me, a huge incentive to buy my PS3 were the PS2 games which I would naturally expect to see sequels of on the PS3, and what do we have? Katamari gets its first release on XBOX, SquareEnix which for the longest time made most games for Playstation releases a slew of RPGs on the XBox, and the Playstation loses exclusivity on Final Fantasy, the original Monster Hunter moved to PSP, and Wii, and now Okami is going to the DSi. What teh fuxx0rs?! I'm actually feeling rather screwed right now.

So what you're saying is, being a fanboy screwed you over. Yup.

Besides, the 360 has only two SquareEnix exclusives: Infinite Undiscovery and Star Ocean: The Last Hope, both of which were pretty mediocre.

Wasn't Katamari for the Xbox360 sucky? Due to the odd controls not working well on a 360 controller and not offering anything new?

Besides, a Katamari is coming for the PS3.

The SquareEnix RPGs that went to the 360 were "meh" to most people.

And you're getting a Monster Hunter for the PS3 as well.

The way I see it, there's not much to complain about owning a PS3 only. The games you want will eventually get to the PS3, it will just take some time. And waiting will be worth it. For now, be pleased with what games you've got at the PS3 Store, I know there's a good number of XBLA-holics that wish half of those PS3-Store games were on XBLA.

However, if you're just claiming that PS3 SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE TO GET THESE GAMES, then..... well...... shut up.

You took the words out of my mouth.
I don't have the money to buy a DS (though I'd save up solely for this game), and the screens on the DS and PSP are just too damn small.

Why can't we put this on a console, so we can get a longer storyline, a greater way of getting into the game, more interaction?
It'd make it so much better.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm still DEFINITELY fucking excited to see that my favorite game FINALLY got a sequel!! :D!

According to IGN, it's a sequel. The new character's name is Chibiterasu.

It sounds neat. Like a bit of a departure from the original in the same way that handheld Zelda's are departures from console Zeldas.
